This is one of those old theatres. Do you remember when you actually had leg room. This theatre does not pack you in like a sardine. The place is ornate and beautiful. There is not a bad seat in the house. Just a great place to see a show. My only recommendation is for the theatre to remodel the restrooms.
Always love seeing shows at the majestic. During Fiesta we saw the Fiesta Pops featuring Little Joe and Mariachi Campanas de America. It was such a fun time with all the music and dancing and truly showed the wonderful culture of San Antonio. Plus the theater is right in the heart of downtown close to the river walk.
It is worth the trip just to see this place. It is incredibly decorated and the staff was VERY FRIENDLY. I very much enjoyed my time there.
Stunning theater that gas to be seen to be believed. Amazing design, intimate size make it a special place to see a show. Perfect spot for a romantic evening out.
This has to be one of the most beautiful and unique theaters ever built, and I was thrilled that it had been restored and now books such shows as the national touring company of "Once." I went to a matinee performance and was seated in row H, in the left orchestra section. I was able to see the spectacular wall decor with inset balconies that reminded me of a mix of Arabian Nights, mission and classic fairy tales! The acoustics were great and seats comfortable. Also, the mostly elderly ladies who walked us to our seats were so nice and seemed very enthusiastic about being there!
Attended a show of the musical Rain, and we were delighted with the entire performance! The musicians were excellent and fun to watch. All the audience participated, and swayed to this wonderful music! Great fun for all!!!
I have been to San Antonio thousands of times and have never seen a concert here. My first one was the 2 CELLOS and I was beyond happy. This theater is gorgeous, historical and great for intimate concerts. I was pleased and look forward to more concerts.
First time at the Majestic for a concert. It was easy to get in, no long lines. The ushers were very helpful on showing us to our seats. There is not a bad seat in the house. We had seats in the Center Balcony & they were wonderful. We saw Sarah McLachlan in concert & it was a wonderful venue for her. The theatre is a beauty to take in. I love how San Antonio embraces their history!
It was my first play. I had no idea how beautiful the Majestic was inside. The sound was great, there was not a bad seat, and we all had a wonderful experience.
We attended the Sarah MaLachlan concert here and it was the perfect venue for this artist. The Majestic Theatre first opened in 1929 and it has been preserved very well. As you walk in you step back in time. The carpet and walls look as they did in 1929. We like to get there early so that we can enjoy a drink as we sit in our seats and relish in the Spanish architecture. The acoustics are surprisingly very good. We love attending an array of event in this San Antonio jewel. Plan your San Antonio visit around a concert, show or symphony so that you too can enjoy a beautiful walk down the historical lane at the Majestic.
I was walking by and there was a crowd outside so I had a spare evening and was curious - I went to the ticket office and asked if they had spare tickets for the show - they are around $120, $80, $60 plus tax. I took a gamble and bought a $122 ticket AND believe it or not still did not know or ask who was performing! To my joy and surprise it was Diana Ross- wow I lucked up there! It's a beautiful interior - stage is great - pre show drinks poured heavy - yummy - and you can take them to your seat too.The show was brilliant - what a great night out solo!
The Majestic Theater is not only historically beautiful; bit also, one of the best venue for so many various types of performances. We have been there for plays, musicals, musicians and others. Each time, the theater adapted to the need of the performance. Great Sound and Visibility from almost any angle. Most recently, we saw 'Rain: A tribute to the Beatles' and the sound was fantastic. We definitely recommend the Majestic! The location on Houston Street is within steps of some very fine restaurants (Bohanan's and the Palm) and bistros (Houston Street Bistro) for before or after performance dining. RiverWalk is only a block or two down the street and offers even more variety.Have fun!
Went to see and here Johnny Mathis and the sound is outstanding. The place is beautiful, reminds me of an era I would've wanted to live in. Personnel were very friendly and nice. One of the best experiences I had. You can see the artist from almost all seats. Will recommend to all.
I fell in love with this place back in October when my husband took us to see Beauty & The Beast. We were just there last weekend for the RAIN: A Tribute to The Beatles show and it was absolutely beautiful! It is walking distance from the Riverwalk, which is right around the corner. If you get the chance to see a concert or show here, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. It is awesome and we are planning to go back later on this year for another show.
The theater is so gorgeous! So historic and very classy. Very small so you can't help but get a good seat. We got lucky and had front row seats in the Starlight Suite seating area which is usually for members only. Great view of the stage even though it was in the balcony -- again, small so almost any seat has a good view. Starlight has it's own bar/lounge/restrooms/smoking area. Very comfortable and seating has cocktail table between seats for drinks and munchies. From my viewpoint, I would consider the lower floor seating under the balcony to be the poorest. We were there to experience the 'one and only' ZZ Top. Great concert and the sound was great. Will definitely be keeping our eyes open for future concerts at this theater. Parking is premium in San Antonio. Theater has valet parking, but there are also a couple of parking garages within a block. Theater is within walking distance of the River Walk and Alamo. Go early and enjoy the historic area around the theater.
