Just not worth the money and time. All kinds of people go to this place. Just watch your back and things. Some of the food stand staff can be rude. Place is more like a rat race than a vacation with relaxation and fun.
The waterpark was so much fun and we rented a eight person cabin and a golfcart for the weekend. My kids loved it there was always something to do Karoke, ice cream social, meet yogi, and I would defiantly go back again.
Firstly, let me begin by saying that we truly enjoyed Jellystone. The water park is fantastic, the nephews absolutely love driving around in the golf cart, and there are plenty of activities to keep them busy for the majority of the day. Having said that, we do have some complaints. The cabin that was rented simply wasn't clean. I'm talking incredibly sticking counter tops, filthy floors, fans caked in dust, and essentially anything else you can imagine. Simply not the type of environment that you expect when you're paying for lodging. Then there is the staff. Oh goodness, what can I say about them? Just getting into the gates was an absolute challenge. The young man was confused about the entire process, unable to answer any questions, and ended up just letting us in because he wasn't entirely sure how to handle the scenario. Within the park, the staff was too busy playing on their cell phones to even notice what was happening around them. The young lady running one of the slides was too busy flirting with other employees/patrons that minutes would pass before she'd remember to blow the whistle again. Finally, also in regards to the staff, they're simply not trained to handle stressful scenarios. Granted, I know they're not lifeguards . . . In fact, there are signs all over stating that they're not. However, a young girl was pulled out of one of the pools lifeless. She clearly had been under the water long enough to stop breathing. Absolute panic. The staff failed to maintain the situation and had hundreds of people gathering around while they literally just stood lifeless. Luckily, one of the park visitors managed to get her to cough up the water and start breathing again. But, that is a testament to how much these folks are trained. After that incident, they started attempting to be serious, telling kids to stop running, etc. Unfortunately, it nearly took a girl dying for them to realize that people were actually in the park.
Our entire family went to Jellystone this year and we all loved it. The three grandkids enjoyed the waterpark and being able to ride their bikes safely. We rented a cabin that sleeps 10 and were satisfied. This is not a 5 star-hotel, so if that's what you're looking for, this is not the place for you. This is a place you can take the kids where is it clean (my home is not much cleaner), quiet, and safe to let the kids be kids. It had 3 large slides, and lots of slides in the water park area, several pools a "lazy river" you can float down. As well, there is a miniature golf course, an outdoor movie at dusk, an activity center that has things going on for the kids. The only thing we would do different is the timing of when we go again. We stayed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Because on Saturday they have lots of day visitors, I think when we go next year, we will go on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. It is so very quiet on Thursday and Friday. The other thing we'd do different is not bring food for lunches; they have a very reasonable snack bar that has good pizza, sandwiches and lots of things the kids liked. All in all it is a great place for a trip with kids.
We just purchased a 31' travel trailer and our second trip was to Yogi Bear park in Waller, TX. It seemed a bit pricey at first but after pulling in we found the park to be clean, well maintained and full of activities. The water park is small in the scheme of water parks but the fun was still there...we were able to relax in the pool, cooling off and chilling with the family. There is an adults only pool and the lazy river, we really had fun floating around on the lazy river. There are a few water slides that my son enjoyed with his uncle while we stayed in the pool and watched. We rented a golf cart to really be able to explore the park and see what all there was going on. We had a lot of fun with the golf cart just cruising around to catch a breeze and do a little sightseeing. The ranger store a bit of everything including the things you forgot at home and some things you never knew you needed - like a smore maker for the campfire! There are activities planned throughout the day that younger kids would really enjoy. They show a movie in the evening on the big screen where you bring your blanket to spread out on the ground and relax. We are going again for the Labor Day weekend and are really looking forward to it. The staff are very helpful and pleasant - over all we really felt like we were out in the woods camping with several luxuries like the pools and yet we were just 35 minutes from home! They offer day use of the water park area as well as the overnight camping so even if your just looking for quick get away with some splash time for kids it was really nice.
this was a family getaway for the weekend of 8/15/14 -- 8/17/14 ; with but a couple days to enjoy some time with one of our daughters, and two grand-daughters (aside from routine babysitting), my wife and I drove us up to Jellystone; it was one of the best short trips we've ever done; check-in and out were seamless; the activities available were appropriate(and fun) for the family; the park workers were all courteous and well-trained---the staff at the waterslides were professional and safety-oriented; the kids really enjoyed the evening parade, the arts & crafts, the climbing facility, and my oldest grand-daughter loved the waterslide; I have but two unrelated minor downsides(I say minor because courtesy, promptness, and safety are paramount) ; the nachos were poor, and the loft area in our cabin was too hot to use...we concurred with other visitors regarding the lofts; they shouldn't be included in this property's cabin-capacity in the hot summer months down here in south TX , since they are virtually unusable and un-reached by the air conditioning ; this did NOT affect our stay, as we were able to get by using only the floor level bedrooms; we chose a cabin that was advertised as 10-cap, and should be considered 6-cap
e had a great time. Tent site next to the big slide and tube shoot. Small enough slides for our 5 year old, movies at night were fun and the playground. didn't feel like my kids couldnt explore without us. down fall is the lazy river, too many kids swimming instead of floating, they swim under you instead of adults trying to relax, then the pool could be cleaner but there were quite a few people there plus the showers need to brighter lights and a bit bigger. get to movie early to get a good spot or you'll be stuck behind a tree. but looking forward to going back.
Stayed July 25th -27th. My husband, myself and 3 kids. First time camping with family in 3 years in our pop up camper. First time and now LAST TIME at this park. Put in a sea of tents that had people staying up and putting up tents ,playing loud music and partying loudly till 3:30 am. No enforcement by staff of quiet time. POWER WENT OUT 10pm, not back on till 5 am!! HOT LOUD MISERABLE NIGHT!!!! Slides didn't work till late afternoon Saturday also due to power issues. Gameroom filthy, stinky and half the games broken. I emailed them when we got home telling them how unhappy we were and got no response!! After reading other reviews I see the Power problem is an on going issue! This place is not worth the money!! My kids even asked if we could go home early! How sad is that?
My stay was July 24-26, 2014I usually dont write reviews but I had to...to warn others night to stay and spend the money to stay in an old out dated cabin. First day, check-in was easy and all the staff I encountered were very nice. I stayed in a Cindy Cabin on the Lake #201, cabin was old, had 2 A/C units, to much brush around the front to actual fish...that was the reason we wanted he lake front cabin and ended up having to walk down to the other side of the lake to fish. Then is was off the the water park and I must admit we loved the water park, I had 7 kids with me ranging from 3-11 years old and they were never bored and never was my family, my self and husband we spent the whole day at the water until it closed at 8pm. The next day off to the water park again, around of putt putt golf, ride on the train and everything was going smooth until someone throw-up in the pool and everyone had to get out to be cleaned, i understand they had no control over that. So off to the cabin we go to eat and build a fire for the night. That's we it turned UGLY.... THE POWER went off at 10pm and did not come on until 5am!!!!!!!!! We were sweating bullets in our cabin, seeing that we could only open two windows cause the other two had A/C in them it was horrible!!! After many calls to the emergency line and the constant change of time the POWER would be back on, we left, my son as asthma and can not handle that type of heat. I paid for power not a tent and that's exactly what I got and a course NO REFUND, manager wasn't there to approve any....Which I say is a butt load of crap!!! So PLEASE fare warning do not spend the money here until they fix up this place. Some inside scoop: New cabins on the lake are 194-199 & old cabin on the lake are 200-205, stay away from those 200's on the lake if you must go here which I strongly advise you not too!!! Bring bikes to round around the park and to & from the pool. Grocery shop in Houston before actual getting to the park, the one grocery store in Waller in pricey. BUT FROM MY EXPERIENCE and many others of TripAdvisor save your money and find someone else to take you family!!!!! Please stop going to this park until everything is on point!!By the way this wasn't my first trip, I went about 3 years ago and everything was good then...I think it poor management and customer service skills that is ruining this park.DO NOT STAY AT THIS PARK!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Even after all the bad reviews, people continue to go. I paid approximately $468.00 for two nights in a cabin to get to sleep in it one night. The power went out on Saturday night and with young children we could not stay. We had to pack up the whole fridge and drive all the way home to come back the next morning. They tried to blame it on Centerpoint but I am not buying it. It happened just the weekend before. If I had wanted to stay without air conditioning I would have asked for a tent space and I would have not paid $468.00 for one night. We did not get any money back. We drive all the way back Sunday morning just to find out the big slides were "broken". I dont buy it at all!!!!! We also heard they lost a key to the slides. To be honest my kids loves those slides and was a big reason we decided to stay there and I paid $468 to sleep there one night and have one small slide available. We also got woken up at 8 a.m. with a staff member mowing around the cabin. No money returned. That place could be nice with some money put in to it and some staff that has some authority.
This place is terrible! Rude & uncaring staff (pool staff on phone instead of watching the pool/slide areas & Joe the "manager" had no power to give any information or make any decisions when issues arose). Old rusty/falling apart slides--a major accident waiting to happen! Power out on Saturday night with no compensation & slides not working at all on Sunday. Nothing but lame excuses given & no responsibility taken by any of the staff. Never again! Don't waste your time or money.
Not a good place to go unless you like roaches, fleas, and bedbugs. We were supposed to be there from July 11 to 13th.,but power went off in the whole park Saturday and we had to go home and leave our things in the cabin and come back the next day.
I came here to say pretty much what Krystal D said below. She summed it up very nicely, but here's my point of view as well. My girlfriend has been coming here for a weekend each summer with family and friends for a few years now. In all, they usually bring around 20 people spread out amongst family groups at different campsites. I joined them this year and we were staying in a cabin with her sister for the nights of 7/11 and 7/12. Like many others, we had to be back at work on Monday so we planned on leaving on Sunday morning. We arrived at about 1:00 on Friday afternoon and the first small indication of the issues to come occurred right at the entrance gate. The cabin was in her sister's name and her sister was unable to be there until later in the day at 5:00 or so. We had actually called ahead the previous week to make sure that we could purchase wristbands without her being at the park and were told that it wasn't a problem. So, we were a bit surprised when we pulled up and the girl handling the gate had absolutely no idea how to deal with us. Amazingly, her solution was for us to pull in to the overflow parking area and wait there in the heat for 4 hours until my girlfriend's sister arrived and then we could get wristbands! Sounds like a bunch of fun, right? Anyway, after way more discussion should have been necessary, we eventually got her to see that her idea was not the best option and she let us park our car and go buy wristbands at the registration office. The rest of Friday actually went pretty well but we all couldn't help but notice some problems even then. Given the summer heat, the main attractions for everyone in our group were the water-based activities. The park has two large water sides, a large pool, a much smaller "adult" pool, and the "lazy river": a circular, winding river-like pool area with a current that's meant for relaxed tubing. We began noticing major deficiencies with the staff monitoring these areas. The lifeguards were completely inattentive for the most part. They seemed to be far more interested in chatting with one another away from the pool area or playing with their cell phones. Many times we could not locate any pool staff within view. We also noticed violations of the posted rules occurring on a regular basis, including people showing up to the pool with glass beer bottles, which is an accident waiting to happen. The lazy river turned into more of a general pool area as the staff didn't care if people entered without tubes. This ends up being dangerous as children in the water can easily be run over by people in tubes. One of our friends had to rescue a little girl herself who stayed underwater for too long in the big pool. But all of these things were minor compared to Saturday's epic fail. We woke up and got ready to hit the pool around noon only to find out that the big pool had been closed for some reason. Later, we learned that the staff had accidentally left the backwash connected and drained the pool overnight. What a blunder on a hot Saturday with tons of people staying at the park. Since most of us usually hung out in the big pool, we were stuck with only the lazy river and the small adult pool to use in the baking heat. If the lazy river was a bit out of control the day before, it could only have been dubbed the "crazy river" on Saturday. Everyone else did what we did with the big pool closed and headed over there. It was packed basically wall-to-wall with a raucous mixture of people on tubes and others just walking the course. We decided to try our luck at the small "adult" pool after a while of enduring the melee in the lazy river. Though less crowded, the "adult" pool was anything but. Though it didn't bother me to have children there, I'm not sure why it has the name it does as the staff didn't object to kids entering when they paid attention at all. Also, the pool was pretty gross. We couldn't even see our feet through the murky water and the amount of floating bugs and other debris was a little extreme. I'm not a fan of water slides so with no real options, I finally gave up and sat next to the pool.I checked on the status of the big pool every so often and it finally opened at around 2:00, over four hours after it's normal time. Even then, the water level was about a foot low and it didn't reach normal depth for another couple hours. Still, we all moved back over to the big pool and I finally got to have some fun for a change. Later, we packed up to head back to the cabin at around 7:00 for dinner only to find out that all the power in the park had gone out at some point earlier. My girlfriend's sister and her husband had left a little before us to start cooking dinner. He was using his electric grill and she had been making some stuff on the stove inside. Of course, her food was ruined and we had to go find friends with charcoal to even finish cooking dinner. My girlfriend and I went over to the store area to buy a couple things and to talk to the staff about the problem and see about a partial refund. When we arrived, the staff seemed to be leaving en masse. My girlfriend asked to speak to a manager and was told that no supervisors were there. The staff seemed to not care about any of the problems that had occurred during the day and were unapologetic. Around the same time, a friend of ours went to buy ice at the store and was told he had to pay full price for a half-melted bag of ice. There were no shortage of stories about similar customer service blunders from our friends. However, the worst problem was the heat. Even though this is a "campground", in the Texas heat no one really wants to have to sleep without air conditioning and we had paid full price for a cabin with A/C. As time went by during the evening, the prospect of having to sleep in the stifling cabin grew more likely. Eventually, I heard that the attempt to get power going by replacing fuses had failed and there was no ETA on when the power might be restored. I also learned that this was not the first time the power had gone out in recent weeks and that it had taken up to 8 hours to fix the problem before.Given this, at 10:00 PM or so, I made the decision to leave rather than sweat in our cabin all night. My girlfriend's sister and her family also packed up and left with us. There seemed to be plenty of other campsites packing up at around the same time and headlights were coming on all over our area of the park. Luckily, my girlfriend's sister lives only about 40 minutes from the park so we didn't need to drive the full 2.5 hours to get to our house. Still, we ended up not even using the cabin for one of the nights that was paid for due to the power outage. The next morning, my girlfriend's sister and her husband went back to retrieve the rest of their gear. Like many others, they talked to the staff about compensation. As Krystal D reported, they were met with excuses and the staff blamed anyone but themselves for the problems. They were told that the power cut was not a park problem. Hello? Repeatedly blowing your fuses is a problem the park needs to fix. I'll buy that general power outages in an area can be considered an "act of God" but repeatedly blowing your fuses like that is a known problem that the park needs to deal with.As with others, my girlfriend's sister was also told that their "compensation" was that they could stay at the park on Sunday until 6:00 PM instead of leaving at the normal 11:00 AM checkout time. However, given that they had to be at work the next day and couldn't stay later anyway, the "compensation" did them no good. The staff even went so far as to tell them that our not being able to stay at the cabin on Saturday wasn't really an issue as their house was fairly close to the park and driving there wasn't a problem. Really? Being forced to pack up all of our gear in the dark and leave the park at 10:30 PM wasn't a problem? Not being able to have the relaxing evening hanging out with friends on Saturday that we planned and paid for wasn't an inconvenience? Not using a cabin for an entire night and not getting any monetary compensation for it wasn't an issue? These people have no clue how to treat customers and their people skills are laughable at best. Overall, the situation was ridiculous. Problems do happen and accidents like the pool draining occur, but it's how a business deals with the aftermath that matters. Take ownership of your mistakes and offer customers something tangible in the way of compensation and even severely ruffled feathers can be smoothed out. However, these guys blew it in about every way imaginable. They were rude, unapologetic, would not accept blame, and offered nothing in the way of recompense. We won't be staying at this park again after the way we were treated and I know other friends in our group that won't be either. Avoid this place at all costs… the next power outage could be when you're staying here.
Horrible Customer Service! We camped here last year and had a great time so we decided to get a group of friends and family to camp this weekend (July 11-13) for my sons birthday. Friday went very smoothly, we checked in and got settled in at our pop up location. Saturday however did not run so smoothly, first they had the large pool shut down for the first few hours so the lazy river was packed and not very relaxing, once they were able to fill the pool up everything started to settle down other than the staff friendliness and concern. While I understand they are typical teenagers, there are too many children around to be paying more attention to their phones. Come about 7pm, a portion of the campgrounds electricity went out (unfortunately mine was a part of that), after hearing many different rumors I went up to the front store (who had power) and spoke with a man name Joe. I asked him the severity of the situation, he told me that it could be anywhere between 4-6 hours before power was restored. As I continued to inquire more details I could tell he was getting irritated and continued to let a woman next to him who had no company uniform undermine my concerns as she slurred her words. He went on to tell me that "this happens all the time" which I would think would mean to find a service worker closer or have a back up generator for situations like this. When asking him about receiving a refund, he informed me that they left the pool open later than normal which after being in the sun all day did me little good since we were all worn out. I finally got out of him that they were having to send a service technician from Houston, so the 4-6 hours could actually be 6-8 hours and when I asked about what we should do about the young children since we did not plan for outdoor camping when reserving our spot, I was told that they really didn't know what we should but that we would be fine and that we would just have to start a fire and socialize, and that this wasn't their fault but Centerpoints so no refunds would be allowed since as they said, if it happened at home there would be no refund so they don't have to refund. If i'm not mistaken, if I have no electricity at home then I am not being charged. So I reminded them that I paid them for the electricity that I was not being able to use and they informed me that they would just let people swim later the next day not taking into consideration those who need to travel home in preparation for the upcoming work week. Not once did they apologize for any of the inconveniences caused by this but instead blamed everyone else for the parks issues and undermined the guests concerns. All in all, I am very unhappy with the customer service and will not return, nor will the guests who spent more than my family did since they rented cabins. I will be sure to spread word of mouth about this situation.
We stayed here with kids ranging from 2 thru 15. We had an amazing time. The staff went out of their way to include my 11 year old son who is in a wheelchair. He pool and play areas were very clean and the entire park was well kept except the lake edge. Not easy to fish in the lake but we saw many people fishing. The movies at night we very kept the kids interest and the crafts and games during the day kept us busy. Always something to do. Our kids loved it and we will definitely be back again!
