Our visit to the bird center was disappointing because we did not see the birds we had hope to see. We saw a dozen green parakeets and a few other small we could not identify because they were to far away. The center has a nice set up walking paths.. Vegetation plantings to attract birds. It was just an off day I would return to see if we would have more sittings.

Since we were moving to an area that was on the migration trails, we decided one Sunday to take a drive and explore the birding center. The center was a little deserted (it was early in the season). The staff are very friendly and know their information--just ask them a question! This Center has experienced massive flooding event in the recent past and some of their funding has been cut (so no coffee shop folks!). The shuttle is a good way to get a layout of the park which you can walk or bike on your own as well. Pets are allowed (on leash).

If you're into birds and butterflies, this is a must see stop on the Rio Grande Valley. Butterflies—different varieties almost daily—cover the flowering shrubs, and birds can be seen flitting from tree to tree, particularly early morning. Don't miss this great place, and don't be reluctant to go even in "bad" weather.

We were very disappointed with this attraction. We did see quite a few birds at the first feeding station when we entered the park, but after that we saw 3 birds in total. It may have had something to do with the weather we’re experiencing this year, so I’ll give them the benefit of doubt, but we sure wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. We see more birds in our backyard at home. Most of the trails do not allow bicycles on them, so we had to stick to the paved roads. We weren’t aware we’d have to lock up our bikes and walk, so didn’t bring a chain or a lock for our bikes.

The Rio Grande Valley offers 7 or 8 world birding centers, each one unique. Pack some cold drinks, a bite to eat and spend the day watching the fascinating wildlife.

Went to see it late afternoon as part of south tx birding network. Very small place. Manly water dowel species and artificial garden like design certainly not natural place but a garden with drip lines and large murky pond. Skip it unless bored and have nothing else to do

Next to the butterfly center. Same review as that center. Many species of birds year-round. A bird watcher's paradise.

I have visited this Birding Center many times and have brought kids from my church here more than once. It is a wonderful place to encounter nature and wildlife, not just the multitude of birds that you can see.

The WBC has many campuses, each of them different. Estero Llano Grande has BY FAR the friendliest staff and volunteers, and its variety of habitats means one can see many bird species in just one visit. It also has a covered deck, just in case of rain. A good place to visit.
