We did not expect much from a museum with free admission in this somewhat isolated town, and were very pleasantly surprised. The displays consist of a lot of donated collections, such as military memorabilia, toy tractors, tools, and huge farm tractors and implements. In addition, there are reconstructions of some 1930's era rooms such as doctor's offices, living rooms, stores, and post offices which are all really well done. Lots of stuffed animals too, in a modern attractive setting. Out through the barn, with an amazing collection of tools and farm machinery, is am outdoor walkway with another quirky collection of fire engines, plows, and an old F-84 which found its way there from a boneyard. Worth an hour or two if you are in Dumas.

Many folks are very impressed saying they have driven by many times and finally stop and are very impressed with this museum. Right now they have added on to this museum making it much larger. Excellent museum and best of all it is free to see. Also the Art Center attached so you have 2 places in one to see. All free entry~!

Hubby and niece went on a whim, and were so glad we did!! The exhibits were informative and interesting, especially the school history and the farm equipment. The outside vehicles and displays were fun to check out. (Went searching for a geocache while there!!) To much to see in one visit, will certainly have to go back!

After a long drive we stopped before checking into the Hampton Inn. We were so glad we did not miss out on this wonderful museum. All ages can enjoy what is displayed. Collections from early day Texas ranching families have been donated. Life on the Texas Plains is presented beautifully in a modern - not musty - building. There is also a western art gallery, Indian artifacts, and a separate room dedicated to those Dumas residents who have served their country in times of war. Going into that room is much like going through a time machine to view many every day items on display which were from the 1900s. Outside of the building stands a telephone booth. That should get the kids' attention. Do not miss this museum.

We may not be a big town, but our museum will compete with any of them. We are mighty proud of what we have inside for you to see, but more important you will get a great big Texas welcome from some of the prettiest and finest ladies anywhere. They are very glad to welcome you inside to see the many items on display and are more than willing to help you with any questions you may have.If you have a few minutes or a few hours you will be glad you made this stop on your trip.

This museum is really incredible for a town of this size and should not be missed when you visit or even pass through the town. The interior has vinginettes of various buildings: ranch house, kitchen, doctor's office, etc. The rear 1/3 of the facility houses several pieces of farming equipment - combines, tractors, trucks, etc.

This small museum is well stocked with things from the past in this area. They also have a very good and active arts group.

This is a highly interesting little museum. I learned a lot that I didn't know about the area, and I'm a native Texan.

We liked the exhibits showing early life on the plains. There was an art show by local high school students that was interesting.

My wife and I visited this museum en route to Colorado last August. It so impressed us that we stopped for a second visit on our way home. And the adjoining art center is a community treasure, which provides fantastic support for local talent . This amazing complex brought some friends and I back for my third visit in February 2012. It's immediately obvious to visitors that Dumas supports its fine arts, both financially and through ample volunteerism. Thumbs up to this prosperous community and its contribution to the arts.

I was very impressed with this museum and then I walked towards the back of the building and my eyes lit up with excitement. They have a great collection of tractors, a full size Halladay windmill, countless collectibles and so many other items to keep you entertained. It was truly a wonderful addition to our trip.
