The gold standard of presidential libraries, this museum is appealing to all ages, and can take an hour or several to appreciate fully. Worth a detour to see, and if you are in College Station, please do not miss.
This is a first class stop of libraries. Staff was very friendly and the disks were done top notch. Would recommend this for sure.
I have been to 5-10 presidential museums and this one seemed more self promoting, more excuse making (i.e. why he didn't get re-elected, and more commercial (advertising for pro off shore oil drilling) than any of the others. However, it was very informative and worth going to. The staff was very nice, the building is very clean, and the set up was extremely easy to follow. I would suggest about 2 hours.
After the tour of the Texas A&M University, we visited George Bush Presidential Library and Museum on New Year's Day 1/1/15 which was convenient, very enjoyable and educational to our entire family! The admission was a little pricey however we enjoyed the visited and our two boys (9, 11 years old) learned a lot about the Bush's family.
The library contains a good assortment of exhibits that chronicles his life. I find the permanent exhibits to be very good and never tire of them. The temporary exhibits are varied and usually interesting. It is a good stop when you are in College Station.
I loved seeing family photos of the Bush family and the progression through his career. There were a few interactive centers that we enjoyed as adults. We had fun sitting in the mock Oval Office and sitting at the President's desk. Parking was convenient.
I am a member of the George Bush Library. While it is more than 20 years old now, it seem like only yesterday we had the grand opening. What is wonderful is the main exhibit changes at least once a year. The grounds around the library are beautiful too. Plan on at least 2 to 3 hours for a quick visit! There is lots to see. Don't skip the introductory movie at the beginning of your visit.
The Bush Library details the life and accomplishments of Bush 41, his formative years, war years, family life, business life, public service, and presidency. Each chapter of his story is told through video, text, pictures, displays, and highlights. The building and the grounds are complementary gems of architecture, respect for the man, and environmental sensitivity. Yet, it's the whole, not the parts, that gave us so much pleasure. If one asks the question, "What is a great American?" one might well find the answer here. Bush's honor, decency, sense of duty and family-centered approach to life transcended the normal, trite political posturing, finger-pointing, and uncivil behavior so often mistaken for public discourse. George Bush emerged for us as a role model of how public life ought to be and of how public officials ought to behave. A remarkable afternoon thanks to a remarkable man.
We have visit the library over and over. It is always so interesting and exciting. My grandkids love it also.
This museum not only has good displays about Mr. Bush's time in public service but about his early life including his career as a Naval Aviator. There are frequently special displays relating to the local area or other significant events -- 9/11 etc.
It has been over 25 years since the Berlin Wall came down. almost as much time as it was up. The wall represents the most recognized symbol of the Cold War. The George Bush Library gives you an in depth look at those moments and more. Much of what happened then impacts us today. This library and museum gives you a rare look and is worth the time.
Well first of all, I love Springer Spaniels so even though I'm an adult, I LOVED the "Millie" dogs all around the museum for the kids. The museum is well done and it is interesting to see their personal lives as well as the time Bush was in office. I enjoy the museum very much and they get good special exhibits as well. I really enjoyed the wine exhibit and the red dress collection that came through town. They also have a neat gift shop if you are looking for something unique.
The Library and Museum is nicely designed. It has a wealth of historical info concerning George Bush's time in office as the VP and the President, as well as wonderfully interesting personal info of President Bush's extended family. Our entire family enjoyed our time there - all ages will find something interesting.
I have had many visits to this venue. Great lectures, presentations, and the museum experience too. The people are all very friendly and very hospitable. This is a must see for anyone especially the out of town visitor. The museum has a fee. The lectures are usually free with a reservation.
The library is informative, the docents are knowledgeable, and it's a nice way to spend an hour or two.
