Picked Fuji apples and attended the apple festival in October. Apples were among the best I have had and were easy to pick (small trees). Very enjoyable visit.
It is a lovely drive through the country and orchards. The tasting room gave a nice history of American hard cider and their offerings. But be aware, their hard ciders are dry by comparison and are more like a dry wine. It took some in our group unaware; and because you are paying for the tasting flight, you may be disappointed if you don't know what you are tasting, My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but others would have stuck to the sweeter side.
Two college kids and two parents enjoyed an afternoon of apple picking, followed by the making of three pies when we got home.
The apples and cider were delicious but I was wowed most by the beautiful landscape. The trees are very short so you can reach most everything by hand. Had a wonderful time picking and picnicking!
We wanted to try the hard ciders and were afraid we were too late because it was close to closing time but they were more than happy to take the time to let us taste. We didn't get to pick our own apples because of the time and just picked up some already been picked. We couldn't wait to try them and they were fresh and crisp. Delicious! They are not open on Sundays so plan your trip accordingly.
We drove from Massanuttan to pick our own apples....great deal, fun times, beautiful views. Apple winery onsite as well as a store with jellies, cider, yummy fudge, and other country items. You may just buy from harvested apples as well. Relaxing time rocking in the chairs out front and petting the dog.
The views from the orchard are amazing. Apples starting to come into season and they have 25 varieties for picking throughout the season. The prices can't be beat and the apples are delicious.
Not too sweet, the way a great hard cider should taste. Nice panaromic view. Love the old Studebaker truck out front. Off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. Give it a try!
A bit off the beaten path, but definitely one of the better hard cider makers. The cidery is under the name Old Hill Hard Cider and has five different ciders available currently. Not the typical sweet hard ciders you get in stores, but more of a type to have with a good meal. There is one sweet one, but it is more like an icewine type of sweetness than a run of the mill type. They fill growlers on Thursday afternoons (4:30-7:30, I believe), and have music and a food truck on the third Thursday of each month. Make a side trip, it's worth it. Check the website for hours, www.oldhillcider.com.
This was a very nice surprise. We did the hard apple cider tasting which was fabulous !!!!!! The orchards were open for apple pickers So if you like apples and want them right off the tree this is your place !!!!
