paint bank trout hatchery

We stopped here on the way to Paint Bank, kind of on a whim. We didn't even know the hatchery would be on the way to our destination. It's run by the state of Virginia and is only open between 8am and 3:30pm. We hit the hatchery about noon or so on a Friday and were the only ones there besides one staff member. He happened to be feeding the trout at the time, and let our girls feed the fish. He also explained about the trout and told us where they stock and the process they follow. It was very neat to see thousands and thousands of trout from an inch long all the way up to 2 feet long.Stop if you have the chance!
