Great place to go for a friday with friends. They have about 6 beers on tap. I am not big on IPA; therefore, they only had a couple of beers that i liked. As a side note, bring your own food!
We LOVE this place. Awesome Craft Beers! Indoor taproom, outdoor deck and grassy area with plenty of tables, chairs and picnic tables. Food trucks and live bands on spring/summer weekends.
Apocalypse is a small brewery just outside of Lynchburg in the suburb of Forest, VA. All the beer is made by the owner in an old converted firehouse. There is a taproom and beer garden in the back of the building where you can order any one of the ten brews made there and look over the numerous medals these beers have won in National and International competitions. Its a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere with TVs inside and live music out on the covered deck in the beer garden. Also dog friendly! This is not a restaurant, however, there are often excellent food trucks parked on the property serving everything from wraps to barbeque and burgers. You can also bring your own food or order a pizza to be delievered to the bar. I do that a lot. This is the perfect place to go after touring Poplar Forest, which is only 5 minutes away, or hiking Sharp Top Mountain.
This is a really fun place to drink good beer brewed on site. Very casual, but craft brew at its best. They have several award winning selections that would appeal to most tastes.
Living in Charlottesville, I am use to lots of breweries around. I was very excited to finally have the opportunity to check out Apocalypse since it's right outside my hometown. As the title of my review stated this is just like having a beer in my backyard with friends but with lot of fully available options with small cost. I think they just upgraded to be able to offer 10-11 of their beers on tap. I tried the Devil's Secret which is a collab with the very familiar to me Devils Backbone Brewing Co. and also the Hopocalypse. Both very good. Their outside sitting is great. I felt at home as they have a good size deck and them a lower seat area below in the grass with various mix & match chairs & tables. The place was busy on the Sat afternoon we visited but not packed. Lots of people relaxing and having great convo. I definitely recommend Apocalypse!
Stopped in for a craft beer and enjoyed a seasonal beer that did not disappoint. Beer was wonderful and the atmosphere was very inviting. One bare tender was wonderful and pleasant while the other was extremely abrasive and unaccommodating. I would recommend the beer but wouldn't recommend the younger tender. Stick with the experienced more friendly and it is a perfect spot to enjoy craft brews.
We went Friday afternoon and enjoyed the low key atmosphere, the friendly and knowlegable staff and the delicious beer selections. Our favorite was the lustful maiden. This pub does not serve food but several restaurants will deliver there and on some evenings they have a food truck. We actually ordered from the "upper crust" truck and loved the pizza. A band was set up to play later that evening. The deck was lovely and overlooks the hops. Can't wait to take our next out-of-towners there.
