tapping reeve house and law school

We were visiting friends in Litchfield for the first time and were recommended this attraction. It is a self-guided tour and very interesting. There is quite a lot of reading to be done but it is very well presented. The schoolroom is also very worthwhile to visit.

A great little historical showcase of Americas obsession with the law. Well researched and superbly presented you won't have enough time to take it all in, so many stories and tales to take in. Very educational. Attention to detail is second to none with furniture and trinkets from yesteryear. Well worth a visit.

This is where it all started. Making laws for themselves instead of just mimicking Britain.The interactive exhibits here are fabulous and you can choose a student and follow his career through the exhibits.A must-do in Western Connecticut.

The beginning of the tour is OK and interesting, but they save the best for last. That's when you so into the original one-room law school and you go back in time. We really enjoyed it!

Very historic. Right in the heart of Litchfield. Very imformation and very authentic. Some actual pieces still on display.

The Reeve House & Law School is open mid-April through November; Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Fees: Adults $5.00; Children under 14, and Law Students are free; Seniors and Students $3.00 and Guided Group Tours are $7.00. The HOUSE & LAW SCHOOL are located at 82 South Street in Litchfield, CT. More than 1,000 students attended the law school, including Aaron Burr, before it closed in the early 1800s. A nice visit if you are interested in the law and its early history in our Country. Litchfield is a picturesque New England town and well worth a visit. For the price of admission you also get access to the Litchfield Historical Society Museum a short walk to the center of Town.

As the first law school in the US, not the first accredited law school, it is of interest. How cool to find out this is the place Aaron Burr did study time. His sister was married to Mr. Reeve. Situated in a really nice part of town, surrounded by stately homes and gardens.

A small museum but if you are interested in who attended law school then this is fun. Newspaper articles, a short movie, letters from the students was informative.
