We started attending various theater performances at Ivoryton Playhouse last year. We've seen four shows and they were all excellent. They always have professional casts, with a few locals in the show, too. The production values are quite good. Seating is comfortable and I don't think there's a poor seat in the house, which probably seats 200-300 people. We drive down from the Hartford area. There is some free street parking, but there is a lot for $5 right across the street

The entire cast was fabulous. We loved the history of the playhouse, the seating was comfortable - we sat tin the balcony. A close friend of ours was in the play. The folks at the playhouse are super friendly and helpful. We will definitely attend another show.

First time to the playhouse, we saw La Cage Aux Folles last Saturday. Great production with a very talented cast (most with extensive credits). Theater holds less than 300 so every seat is close to the performance. Had pre-theater dinner at Blue Hound Cookery (across the street), also highly recommended.

We were there yesterday to see the play "All Shook Up" and the cast was fabulous. We had Row F, and could see just fine. The bathrooms leave a bit to be desired, only two stalls and toilets very low. Not really handicap accessible. I had to grab onto the water pipe bar to get up from the seat...small intimate theater, the ticket takers were very friendly and everyone had a smile. Kudos to the actors and actresses in the play who have such great talent. It was a toe-tapping, smiling experience. The outside of the theater is lovely...and the cast mingled with the patrons when the play was over. Great experience.

Me and my husband visited the Ivoryton playhouse last week while we were in essex. It was great. It is well maintained and had pictures of old stars on the wall. Afterwards we stopped by gather on the same street and looked around. They had some nice home baked goods and old dresses and hats. I would recommend this to anyone.

Super musical productions every year with first class professional actors. It is a small playhouse so the performances are very engaging. We go every summer and have never been disappointed. On your drive there thru the country stop at Centerbrook Pizza House for dinner. This makes for a very affordable and entertaining evening. You will appreciate it even more by reading the ivory town playhouse history. If you like theater, this a DO NOT MISS !

This was an old time theater. The theater was well maintained, with pictures of old stars on the walls that performed at the theater. We enjoyed the show very much. The stars were very entertaining.

A quaint superb playhouse in Ivoryton, CT. If you like plays and a country atmosphere you need to go. First though stop by the Centerbrook Pizza House about 2 miles away for the best pizza in the state.

I've been to 3 plays at Ivoryton and they all have been delightful. I saw the show Dreamgirls 2 weeks ago and it was terrific. Personally I thought it better than the Broadway production as you were concentrating on the actors and not the overbloated scenery you get in NYC. They do musicals and regular plays. Prices are reasonable, about $30-$40 for a ticket. They offer dinner/combo deals with local restaurants, one of them is Gabrielle's about 10 min away and their food is terrific. Parking is tight, you pay if you go across the street to their lot. However, get there about 20-30 minutes before and you may find street parking. Be careful where you do park so you do not get a ticket. Staff there is always pleasant/friendly. There is a pub-type restaurant across the street from the theater. (never ate there)

Saw Footloose which unfortunately did not have Kevin Bacon in it. A fun production with some very talented performers. Good music and dancers who amazingly didn't fall off its small stage

Lovely theater to take advantage of which such a rich history and small enough to enjoy and be comfortable. Some of the most comfortable seats we’ve sat in.Usually very good productions and such a thrill to see the photos of the previous stars that performed at the Ivoryton Playhouse. One annoying thing is the volunteers. They should be trained to not speak during a performance. I know how important it is to have volunteers as I too am a volunteer at a number of venues but when you trying to listen and watch a play and have volunteers sitting behind you continuingly talking is rather annoying.

Went here on 6/22/13 to see "I'm Connecticut" What a great little theater !! Seating somewhere around 300, there didn't seem to be any "bad" seats. There is parking right across the street for 5 bucks. There are plenty of restaurants within 8 miles for any kind of dining you might want before or after a show.

Wonderful productions, we look forward to each one. Have had season tickets for many years too. We enjoy our ride from Branford, having lunch before the shows or dinner afterward in one of the several nearby restaurants

Snobby and rude owners, who will look down at you. If you are a normal, down to earth, middle class person- you probably are not good enough to go there!

We went to see "Other People's Money" tonight , and it was fantastic! I hadn't been to this playhouse in 20 years... And I had forgotten how nice it was. So convenient, and a Broadway worthy rendition of a nice play. Supet duper value for the money, too!We will be going back!
