In the quintessential New England town of Chester lies a gem of a theatre! The Norma Terris Theatre is not only an excellent building with great seating, but it quite often produces new shows in their developmental phase. We saw The Circus in Winter which was fantastic. The set was creative and the cast was top notch. I can't wait to see where this show ends up, but the Norma Terris will have played a huge part in the life of this show no matter where it goes next!

We have visited this theater a few time now. We like to see new musicals being born. The facility is welcoming to all ages. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. One of the best things … it's a VERY short work to Main St., Chester where there excellent restaurants & shops.

We regularly attend this theater. Their latest production is excellent. It is a new musical based on the book of the same name. The staging was well done. The portrayal of the elephant was imaginative. This performance required the audience to use their imagination too interpret some of the scenes. You couldn't sleep through this one.

Their latest play was wonderful. This theater features musicals that are new and perhaps still being developed. Most of their offerings are quite good and this latest one was one of the best we have seen here.

Love this theater! A hidden gem with amazing talents. The parking lot is gravel and small. Arrive early so you can easily back in to your spot in order to exit faster. The theater is an old mill- nice building that they did a great job converting. The theater lobby is spacious and the portable bar - though small, perfect! The bartender was friendly and made great drinks. You can even get your drink in a Goodspeed cup that can be brought into the theater (small additional fee for the cup). Not many places to sit in the lobby- might add a few benches- lots of senior citizens there! There is also a small gift shop - really a kiosk! But you can take home a souvenier.You enter the theater through just one door. So if your seats are stage left you have to walk around. The theater is small but all the seats offer a great view. The seating is elevated so there are stairs to climb to get to the seats- but not a lot. The elevated seating also means great views. Comfortable theater.We saw "LMNOP" and enjoyed. Agree with previous poster, didn't leave the theater humming any tunes because to me no songs really stood out. But talented cast! Wish the theater put on more productions throughout the year.

Saturday afternoon production of LMNOP. I love this small theater. The actors were professional and so entertaining. The staff were most accommodating when I lost my cell phone in the theater. I thought the play was modern and entertaining. I will be returning for their next production!

The Norma Terris Theatre plays host to new musicals trying to make their way onto the stages of Broadway. It’s a small theatre and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Each row is elevated above the one in front by just enough to make all the difference in seeing the stage without a head in the way. Doesn’t matter if you sit in the front row or the last row in the back, on either side or in the middle, you can see the whole stage. The acoustics are pretty good. We have sat in different areas through the years and still have not hit a dead spot. The current show, a musical called “LMNOP” has just opened. The story line is excellent, and socially, very timely. The music is original and the sound is great. However, speaking for myself, I came away with the message pounding in my ears rather than having any one of the tunes running in my mind. That’s how powerful the story is. Do go see it…and be mindful of the music. I’m going again – this time to listen more intently to the songs.

Depending on what's playing, the Norma Terris is one of eastern Connecticut's hidden gems. It is set in the charming village of Chester, just north of Old Saybrook off Rte 9. The village is a dream of small shops, fun (and even fancy) restaurants, antique boutiques, and galleries. The theatre is a few minutes walk away, with plenty of free parking.Virtually all of the shows here are new musicals, often those in development with New York as their destination. A converted mill building, it has comfortable seating, excellent sight lines, and a spacious lobby. Some of the shows which have played here have gone on to great success on Broadway, Off Broadway, or in regional theatres. An ticket prices are WAY below New York - another bonus! A great day's destination in the Connecticut River Valley.

wonderful productions three times a year, usually a new work or new revival, always a musical. The talent is uniformly wonderful and last week we saw the Great American Mousical, directed by Julie Andrews and based upon her children's book. - Absolutely delightful.
