What a great place to visit, particularly when the spring flowers are in bloom. We are fortunate to have this treasure preserved in our city.
I live in a suburb outside of Jackson and would NOT visit Mynelle Gardens. This place is located in a very bad part of Jackson. You better be well armed!
I visited Mynelle Gardens on a pretty April afternoon. The lady at the front desk was very nice. The azaleas were in bloom so it was quite colorful. The grounds were well-kept and clean. I was a littler disappointed to see a blue tarp on the part of the Westbrook House roof. Otherwise a very enjoyable time.
The gardens have so much potential. It is obvious that care is not being taken for the existing plants and grounds. Most of the color was added by recently planted pansies. Staff was very nice. Just sad.
We visited before the official season but the very nice young woman working there, Linda Clark, was very gracious and let us take a walk even though it was late in the afternoon, after 4 pm. There were a few things blooming even so early in the season like the early bulbs, camilias and and helebores. There were many turtles sunning themselves and it was very peaceful. I would love to return when the gardens would be ready for the season but it was still a time well spent. It was a bit hard for us to find it since we have never been to this part of Mississippi before but the gps was a big help. Hopefully we will return.
It is now in a sketchy neighborhood but well worth the trip (just be SAFE!) When I was growing up it was *the* place for portrait sessions and one of the most spectacular gardens in town. I'm ever so happy they are still around.
Great place to photograph children, brides etc. Well done. Not the safest place in town though. Lock your car.
Maybe it was because we visited in the Fall.. but a lot of grounds are over grown and dead. I am sure it's much nicer in the Spring when everything is in bloom. Maybe we will try again in the Spring if we are back in the area.
Not in the best of areas, but still a good garden to visit. Very beautiful areas.
make a lovely place for outside weddings, but please not between June and September...humidity at its Southern best
Have never had the pleasure of visiting Mynellle Gardens in the spring to see the azaleas; but did get to go last Christmas to see the Christmas lights. This is breathtaking! If you live wihin a day's travel you should not miss this the next holiday season. It's somewhat "out of the way", but SOO worth it!!
A doable walk around the gardens - but we were about a month too late for all the flowers.
There are a few places within the gardens that could use a little updating, but overall it's a great place to shoot wedding protraits/bridal portraits.
An unexpected oasis located just off a busy road. Cool, peaceful and beautiful. Great place to picnic, contemplate, take photos or just "be". Definitely get the fish/turtle food for the ponds. Lovely statuary. We wished the house had been open.
You can walk in the most beautiful gardens, its quiet and peaceful, I just wish the house was open.
