Please take time to attend Mass at the Cathedral. The stained glass windows are breath-taking ! Mass on a Sunday is at 7 am, 9 am, 11 am and 5:30 pm
A short walk from the Beau Rivage. We recently found this as always went to St Michael's on the trolley. On Sunday (Sept 7th) attended 9am Mass and it happened to be the children's Mass. The children's choir was outstanding and sermon was aimed at these youngsters. A beautiful Church and felt welcome there.
We tried to see the Cathedral so we drove over to it after lunch. It was no big deal from the outside, so we figured it would be lovely inside. Oooops, the church was closed. And we tried every door.
The Cathedral is a wonderful place for visitors to the Ms Gulf Coast to come feel welcomed and a refreshed. Located in Biloxi just a few blocks from Hwy 90 away from all the activity of the casinos and traffic. Feel the serenity and the beauty of this holy place. A place everyone can love.
This was our Parish Church when we lived in Biloxi so it is always special when we return. The church is beautiful and the stained glass windows are gorgeous. The first church was dedicated in 1843, it was destroyed by a hurricane in 1869. The second church was destroyed by fire in 1900. The existing church was dedicated on September 8, 1902 and dedicated a Cathedral for the Diocese of Biloxi in 1977 .It is beautiful and again very special to us. They make everyone feel very welcome
Seat of the Biloxi Diocese Bishop. Always welcome coast visitors. Mass times: Sat 4PM. Sun 7AM. Beautiful stained glass windows.
Beautiful statues and interior ! Very well kept - one can feel a religious sense of peace when visiting this spiritual place. Very inspiring and historic.
Might not be the one of biggest churches you see but it will be one of the most beautiful & peaceful places you will experience. The stained glass windows are breathtaking & the history is amazing. Make sure you get the background on it. It is very interesting.
Everything was literally perfect. First thing I noticed: the Cathedral was beautiful. Soft kneelers! Friendly parishioners! The interior looks like what you would see in old European Catholic churches! The Homily: so inspirational. Given by the Bishop, too! He is so wise and passionate about the faith, and also had some nice humor! My boyfriend and I LOVED our experience at this church. Highly recommend!!!
On my recent stay at the Beau Rivage, I took the short walk over to this beautiful church foe Sunday Mass. Love this Church & it's beautiful stained glass interior ~ very friendly parish ~ will return on my next visit to Biloxi
Beautiful Cathedral and it was a very nice service. The parking was good, the people friendly & the music was beautiful.
This old Cathedral is one in its own class. All of the designs and stained glass is something this city and congregation has been proud of and will keep being proud of for years to come. Attended mass and was so impressed. Thanks again Biloxi.
The wife and I did a self-guided walking tour of the historic houses in Biloxi, MS. Most of the houses were actually arts & crafts shops which offer a nice distraction along the way. The locals working inside were extremly gracious, but don't expect them to know much about the houses. Halfway thru was the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They keep the church locked up , I would recommend calling ahead, someone will be there, and seeing if they will let you in. We just happened to bump into the housekeeper/cook (Jenny) I think was her name and she let us in. there were several (too awestruck to count) enormous 106 year old stain glass windows, each depicting a scene from scripture. We were only halfway thru the tour and it should have ended there because every building paled in comparison, so save the church for last!
On my last trip to Biloxi, my 2 teenage sons and I attended Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday. We attended the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Upon entering the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one feels the awe of the stained glass windows and the carved wood that has been carefully restored since Hurricane Katrina hurt the building. The Cathedral offers Sunday Masses at 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. ,11;00 a.m. and a Vigil Mass on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The daily mass at 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.. The Cathedral was built in 1905 and is the 3rd churchon the Mississippi Gulf Coast dating back to the French Colonial era -1699.The congregation is friendly and happy to have visitors.
