Beautiful, peaceful scenery. There are many nature and Native American inspired stops along the way that help bring our countries past to life.

We entered at tupela and contiued to jackson, and drove 60 mph the whole way. It was sunday afternoon, and during that 150 or so miles, 5 cars passed me, and I passed 2 cars. Now feb 22 is not summer, so numbers would be different then. No bikes or motorcycles either. We stopped at the burial mounds and at the example of the old road, as well as the French creek settlement (or a similar name). All worth the stop. Scenery doesn't vary much, but I'm glad we did it. 3 or 4 hours was enough for us, but as I said, I'm glad we did it.

Spent as much time as possible on the Natchez Trace Parkway, both to the north and to the south of Jackson, while we were there. With there not being any deciduous leaf cover, it was quite easy to see the terrain, vegetation, and fauna. It was sunny and about 50 so the birds were quite busy. It was nice to see entire flocks of red-winged blackbirds (since we see them in the summer up here in Wisconsin when they are staking out their nesting territories), and there were quite a few species of waterfowl when we took a side trip off the parkway to cross the reservoir. The cypress swamp, to the north of Jackson, was an easy 20 minute walk, and there is a well-marked parking lot at which to pull over for it.There are plenty of places to get on and off the parkway if you need a break, restroom, or such.

I've read some if the less positive reviews. Anyone who expects a spectacularly scenic drive in Mississippi doesn't know their geography. This drive is about experiencing the history and trying to imagine people with the grit and determination to walk from Natchez to Nashville -- truly a monumental undertaking, and some hardy souls did it multiple times. We drove almost the entire length in February 2015 and enjoyed it immensely. It's a very pretty trip with many oportunities to pull off and read about history or take a walk. Yes, it's true that most of the traffic wants to run faster than 50 mph, but it's seldom a problem to pull over and let them by. We enjoyed the leisurely pace and the scenery is better appreciated going slower. Don't take this road if you're in a hurry; you just spoil it for others. My one serious criticism is that there are no signs telling travelers where servics are available. This is a road that will take at least two days to enjoy and during that time, people need gas meals and motels. No informational signage is available at all. The best one can do is to guess at getting off at a fairly major looking cross road. This may result in a memorable and enjoyable stop or in a frustrating and fruitless wild goose chase. This needs to be dealt with. Our best "find" was getting off eastbound on US82 near mile 204. We found a wonderful restaurant serving delicious southern cooking at very reasonable prices.

This is a park we would never have gone known about if we weren't in this part of the country, but I was happy to get off the more boring interstates. It was February so the bare trees aren't so interesting and it was too cold to get out and hike which I can imagine would be really nice. I can also imagine it would be really pretty in spring and autumn. I was really surprised to see the Merriwether Lewis memorial and the ranger was really friendly to tell the story and answer our questions.

Beautiful drive. We took the Trace from Tupelo to Jackson because it is a straight shot and scenic. But did not consider the amount of deer that would come out at dusk and dark. There were deer everywhere. So if traveling at night - be aware- deer will be on or near the road often.

My wife and I traveled the Trace twice from Nashville to Kosciusko, MS. We pull our 5th wheel trailer, and enjoy the slow pace and lite traffic of the road. We will travel it again this May if plans hold. Enjoy the many stops along the way of points of interest. We have enjoyed the free camping, especially the Merriwether Lewis. campground and grave site. Also we have lots of pictures taken along the way. The old, slowly being restored plantation house and grounds at French Camp, Mississippi is a must stop. This year we may take the whole trip from Natchez to Nashville. We first traveled the Trace in 2010, then again in 2012.

Nothing to see. Old worn out exhibits. Too many bicycles on the narrow road way. Not a good drive. Not all that it's hyped up to be

We took a leisurely 3 days to drive along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi (it could be done much more quickly). It was lovely, peaceful and beautiful, even in January. I can imagine that it would be much prettier in spring, summer or fall. We enjoyed stopping at all of the historical markers - each has a reader board with interesting information. We particularly liked the stops at the Nature areas - each area has a short hiking path - most take only 10-20 minutes to walk along. There are signs with information about the forest, trees and other features of the area. There is abundant information about the Ntchez Trace Parkway online - you can download maps and lists of hikes, nearby attractions, restrooms, lodging, etc. The 2-lane parkway speed limit is 50 mph and no trucks are allowed on the parkway. There are a few visitor centers along the parkway which is 444 miles long and runs from just outside Nashville, TN to Natchez, MS.

I have ridden the parkway many times at different times of the year. It is always a pleasant ride at 50 MPH wink wink. Just don't get caught speeding usually around Tupleo. Very beautiful during the fall with the trees changing.

If you have time to enjoy a beautiful drive, the Trace is for you. There are many places to stop and the visitor center is great. You MUST do the 50 mile an hour speed limit so beware if you are needing to get somewhere fast, as Rangers are out on the Trace keeping everyone safe and they will get you for speeding, plus deer and other animals are seen crossing the road a good bit too.If you are looking for nice places to stop, grab a Natchez Trace map at one of the rest areas or visitors center, they are very helpful.

was looking forward to this ride. Took the parkway from Tupelo to Jackson, MS. It was a great ride which I am sure would be even better spring through fall. If you are in a hurry you might want to try a different route as the speed limit is 50 MPH the entire route. I would like to drive the section from Tupelo to Nashville.

We had a timeline for reservations to follow so we took just part of the Natchez Trace Parkway and so glad we did. It is such a beautiful place. There were so few cars on the road that we felt we had it all to ourselves. The scenery, vegetation, animals by the roadside made such beautiful vistas. Such a peaceful ride. We totally enjoyed ourselves.
