McComb is a railroad town. Museum very interesting has a real train whistle, some model trains and many photos from the past. Some days they have story hour and activities for children. Admission is free.
I stopped here as i saw the road signs the museum is very small and free the exibits are good but no real explination of what they are but to somebody who knows they will be very intrested
My family and I enjoyed this small museum. It was nice reading about the impressive history of this museum and it's by gone days. I recommend this museum not for the quantity of things, but for the quality. The older African American female worker was so cute. She not only shared information about this train depot/museum,but also the history of Mississippi.
Docents were readily available but let me browse and soak in the history at my own pace. I loved finding out how McComb came to be.
quick tour ,but sort of nice...something to do before we have lunch right there in the area at the caboose restaurant
My son and I visited the McComb Railroad Museum in conjunction with National Train Day. The museum has some great items. And outside are a few actual railroad cars that you can tour. We can't wait to visit here again!
This has it all for old and young alike. The train buff will love this place. There's also a small park adjoining it for the smaller kids to play.
i have no dislikes about holiday inn express everything was close by the mall was directly in front of the hotel and next to the interstate
Take a free visit Monday through Friday from Noon till 4 PM CST. Were you will find a Railroad Museum located in a Very Quaint Old Downtown McComb Mississippi that was built by Railroad Retiree’s. When you visit the museum, you will enter through the original Illinois Central passenger terminal now leased to Amtrak. There are lots of railroad history of “what it once was” when trains were one of the best ways of traveling! The train station is actually used today to take or return from a trip on an Amtrak Train. You not only can see and read about how the railway system affected the area; you can experience trains coming through and stopping in McComb on a daily basis. After you experience the Museum go outside and touch or even climb on a real steam locomotive and railcars. If you can’t get by during open hours take a tour on their website http://www.mcrrmuseum.com/History.phpCons- some display items are broken and in need of repair
If you find yourself driving on I-55 on a pretty day and want to make a quick, fun stop, drop by the McComb Railroad Museum! Just adjacent to the McComb train depot is a delightful one-room railroad museum. You can operate a train whistle, fold down a sleeper car sink from the wall, and snoop through old railroad china and other artifacts. They have lots of photos, a model train, and even uniforms on display. This is an adorable exhibit and a quick stop. Outside, they have an old train engine and some cars on display, as well as a small train-themed playground for little ones.
