Stop and see this most hidden place in Springfield, MO! Can not say enough about this place. Quiet and serene as you walk the many gardens that have had excellent care. Beautiful lake on the south side and butterfly house in the spring and summer. The building itself has a beautiful stain glass window with seating to just sit and enjoy the view on to the great lawn, a wonderful library with information on gardens and gift shop. When you get down here, take the trolly over to the Japanese strolling gardens and transport yourself to Japan! Everything just great. Springfield you should be proud! Have been to many gardens and for the size of your city you do amazing job
As a visitor to Springfield, I came here to enjoy some outside time and see the local flora and fauna. Interesting use of space for a park-like setting, connecting greenway walking paths, history (Grey-Campbell Farmstead) and new building housing a botanical library and MO extension center. Unfortunately, the Japanese Stroll Garden was closed for the season, but this looks wonderful and I hope to see it sometime. The Master Gardeners Display gardens was interesting and good to see.
it was a beautiful place for a stroll and a picnic. we put a blanket down in the shade of a tree and enjoyed the birds, squirrels and butterfies...and rabbits!
Do not miss this spot it is great to see , I have gone to a lot of botanical gardens they rank right up there
They have done some construction work here in the last year or two, and they did a beautiful job! This park is so pretty with the water features and the gardens. This is a great place to go for a relaxing walk.
this was a very pretty place to visit and it was free and the employees were helpful especially the ones at the butterfly house, they explained things and answered questions.
The flowers in this park are wonderful. Cared for by a very dedicated volunteer staff and meticulously labeled. You can stroll through the expansive gardens. They even have a butterfly house with dozens of different butterfly species. If you like gardens, you won't be disappointed.
When its not too hot this is a great place to spend time with the family. Beautiful gardens and a wide variety of birds and animals. The kids loved the wandering ducks and the photo ops are non-stop. Great family attraction.
A series of small gardens each with their own attraction. A wonderful array of many variety of flowers. Birds ranged from ducks, egrets and Canadian geese in the water to small flashes of color on land. Walking trails are paved for a peaceful relaxing stroll. Play grounds for kids. Very idyllic.
I love to come to this place and have enjoyed seeing it expand and blossom into what it is now. There are walking trails and places for bikes nearby and I love the Butterfly pavillion. It is a relaxing, scenic place that I enjoy going to always.
This is a new park so it is still not fully developed plant wise however it is laid out nicely for a day at the park . With places to picnic and a small pond to watch the ducks. The plants are coming along nicely and the butterfly house is neat.
Very cool, and just getting better all the time! Beautiful setting. Lovely & interesting landscaping by Master Gardeners. Great place to have a meeting too!
I enjoy nature and since the Springfield Botanical Garden was near why not and venture a walk out there in the sun. The place is well manicured the rest rooms are clean and lots of places to sit if you want to take the time to pack food to enjoy the outdoors. It cool to watch nature come back to life and see it bloom in front of your eyes and commune with nature so to speak.... God intended for us to enjoy what He has made to pleasure His eyes and to share with us. So with that, come out and enjoy what is around us and take it all in for one day we may not have it.....
The Botanical Gardens consist of three major features. There's the Botanical Center with a gift shop, classrooms, meeting rooms and fantastic stained glass windows that look out upon the second major feature which is Close Memorial Park. The Park surrounds a lake with a seven-tenths of a mile walking trail (which joins with one of Springfield's many bike/hike trails) and includes dozens of specialty gardens, a butterfly house, picnic areas and much more. The third feature is the amazing Mizumoto Japanese Garden - well worth a walk-through with or without your camera. Beautiful settings all well maintained. Intimate, colorful and peaceful - just like a Japanese garden should be. A lake with swans and ducks, a small waterfall and a Japanese Tea House are also included.
It is a nice place to take a stroll or sit a spell. The beauty of it all is a lot to take in but it is something everyone should do. There are so many photo opportunities. The grounds are very well maintained. Thanks for being here for all of us
