This place hasn't been updated in the last 25 years! So it's badly kept, filthy and it smells really bad inside all the buildings. The food they serve is terrible, greasy, small portions and very expensive. Go to another ski area if you can.

I absolutely love this place!, the service is amazing, they cater to your needs and hook you up with all the gear for the day, and after a long day skiing their bar is just waiting for you with cocktails that will warm you up.The areas are well signalized and they have people patrolling all the time

We had such a fun time at Alpine Valley!! As beginners, it was a perfect spot for the whole family. We had 3 adult skiers, 5 adult snow boarders, 4 ski kids and 1 snowboarder kid. We all took lessons - semi-private for the adults and Ski Alpine Astros program for the kids. The instructors were all really helpful, since we were a large group, they helped us with our equipment and got us all the correct size boots, helmets, skis and boards. Doug was really great about letting us know where to pay for what and who could help us. Everyone left their lessons feeling more confident than when the started. The snowboarders said they felt like they could go out next time with friends and feel much safer and confident on the slopes and the lifts. Now, skiing is expensive and this place was no exception. If I had a "complaint" it would be that we had to pay in three different places for the various activities we were involved in -- we had to pay for lift tickets in one place, kids lessons in another and adult lessons in a third. Maybe that's typical but it seemed overly complicated. For a family of beginners, this was a great spot for a one-day fun activity. It wasn't terribly crowded. The food was decent and reasonably priced. We had a few of the boys do the whole day iwht teh Astros program so their lunch was included.Word of caution (that our instructor did inform us of but we did it anyway), the rope tow will tear up your gloves if you don't have leather grips. Brand new gloves, "broken in" in the truest sense of the word. Bummer -- at least we only grabbed on with one hand.

Great for kids, okay for adults. Nothing challenging. Close by, not much of a destination. Parking lot in really poor condition, lodge kind of run down. Nice Pro Shop, great chicken sticks in café.

This is a good place to take skiing lessons. I had an older instructor, and He was helpful. The hill is man-made, and the dressing room looks ancient. In all, the experience was pleasant.

Been here many years ago and wanted to make an stop and hit the slopes for a few hoursSnow conditions were great mainly due to the latest weatherStaff was friendly although I have to say that it was wednesday and after 16:00 so no crowded at allYes, they stop due to shift change from 17:00-18:00 but I see it as good time to rest, have a drink and make a bio-brake, this is adviced at your entry so no surprises thereBar options are nice, beers are greatI would say is not an olympic games spot but for sure a great place to ski and practice while in the area. If looking for more complex slopes then hit up north around Boyne

I highly recommend attending alpine valley on a Wednsday becuase of the short lines. Also, I had a unfair experience while going up the tow rope next to the half pipe, I smelled weed coming from the ski patrol shed. But overall, I love alpine!

Alpine is literally in our backyard. It ticks me off that they charge full lift prices when they only have a few runs open. Staff - snotty teens (some of the older staffers (instructors) are nice). They need to remodel in a big way!! 1970's at best.

This is an OK ski hill for SE Michigan. I think Mt. Holly is better (nicer facilities, better runs, shorter lift lines). The snow was fine, but it seems that they have put more focus on freestyle terrain features over ski runs. It was very crowded down at the bottom of the hill. The food selections were average - again I think Holly does it better. For the same amount of money, I'll spend a few more minutes in the car driving up to Mt. Holly.

This course plays fairly average and can be taken on by the average golfer. There are a few areas to look out for the OB but very scenic and tons of wildlife to view. I have never seen so much on a course, Deer, turtles, groundhogs, sandhill cranes, and many more were out and about during my visit. Well maintained course with beatable handicaps

Good value and great runs for the area. As a newbie I enjoy the variety of runs as I get better. Hoping to make it back this winter.

This is close to home. Their runs are well maintained and average length for Southeastern Michigan. Friendly and professional staff and lower lift fees.

More runs than other ski areas in Metro Detroit area, nice lodge too. Enough lifts to keep the lines down, and usually there aren't any lines at all!

For ski areas in its class (ie non-mountainous, small hill), it has everything you need and has more variety of runs than you might imagine. Skiers and boarders share the same slopes and there is even a large half-pipe for boarders. Has basic lounge/cafeteria facilities. Probably not worth a special trip but worth a stop whenever you're in the area. Call ahead for snow conditions which can be highly variable (or nonexistent). As long as temps are cold enough, they make their own snow and are often open for skiing even when there is no accumulated snow in the surrounding area.
