Remember when you were young and they flooded the Hoyt Ball Diamonds, well guess what they're back at it! You can rent skates in the warming shack and get some hot coco at the same time! What a good way to spend some winter days with you children or grandchildren, and bring back some memories too! During the summer you can take in a softball game or just take a stroll around the park.

Many people use this nice area to get a morning or daytime run. Across the street from the Montague Inn, you may be surprised to see a celebrity one day out for a walk. Wintertime is a great time to sled or toboggan, and rumor has it the ice skating rink may come back!

Lovely play area and especially fun for children of all ages who would enjoy the children's zoo. An amazing collection of generally friendly animals with interspersed gardens maintained by volunteer gardeners.

Hoyt Park, located along Washington Avenue, in the Grove neighborhood of beautiful, historic homes. Parking for the local Saginaw Children's Zoo is on the south end of the park. The park largely consists of excellent baseball diamonds. At one end, there is a skating rink and hockey rink. The hill provides sledding adventure. The newly restored and operating warming house provides an escape from the cold and has refreshments for sale during skating season and baseball season. The road thru the park (a large circle drive, basically) is rough-and I hope they have intentions to fix the huge potholes that cover a large part of the drive. Located at the top of the park is another parking area, and disappointingly, no picnic tables. Parking for the sledding hill is here, and is very busy during the winter months on nice days. Unfortunately, the wonderful toboggan runs (slides) were taken out many years ago. This is a historical park. It used to be the largest man made skating rink in the USA. The entire park was flooded and maintained until about 7 years ago. They then shrunk the size of flooded area to a miniscule amount compared to what they used to flood. A real disappointment. However, people do not ice skate like they used too, and I can understand the reasoning. Sad. Over the last 2 winters, however, they are improving the condition of skating ice and hopefully, will expand the area flooded. Bathrooms in warming house; parking anywhere along drive in park, or at the parking area at top of hill. Beautiful willow trees grace the hill area of the park, along with other trees. Grass is kept in great shape. Need some picnic tables in the park! Many use the park to walk or jog.
