Great environment for a party of about 30. We had visited before and decided to take the motto to heart: "Think globally and drink locally." The owner, Connie, did everything to help us plan and execute a perfect day - and it worked. The wines and microbrews are different and exciting. The entertainment on the weekend is fun, and off beat. A jewel on Lake Huron.
Great atmosphere and lots of fun here. Staff was friendly, informed and helpful. Fun to sit outside or stay inside and enjoy the entertainment. It's a wonderful addition to this cute village!
I enjoyed it, we went opening day, so it's been a while, but I'd like to go back and see how they've grown as a winery, as my husband and I enjoy the environment.
Nice variety of local brews and wines. Good live music and place to hang with friends and meet new ones.
We have not been to Lexington since April 2013, so we made sure we stopped in to the Winery. It was a Saturday night about 8pm and the place was packed. As soon as we walked in, Chris (We could not remember his name at first) greeted us from behind the bar. After a few minutes of chatting with him, he remembered the little tidbits about where we were from and what I do for work. We were in and out really quick on this trip to grab a few bottles of wine so we did not do a tasting. Always a pleasure stopping in. See you again in May.
Our experience was similar to that of another reviewer. We drove from Frankenmuth because we read about the winery and are big supporters of "made in Michigan" products. We were basically snubbed by the staff - there's just no other way to describe it. And it wasn't that busy - there were staff standing around. We were planning to eat there but figured we wouldn't get good service. After drinking our glass of wine, we left. So, if you go there, buy a bottle of wine (the Blue Water unoaked chardonnay was very good), and sit outside. We want this Michigan business to succeed, but to do so they are going to have to give good service to everyone, new visitors as well as regular local customers.
We love outdoor seating with so little opportunity in our area I was anxious to try them and it was better than what I hoped it would be. The menu is not large but I had a good brat and german salad and a very good beer
I was looking forward to a wine tasting here, after a drive from Port Austin. I found out about the Winery from a tourism brochure about Thumb attractions, and as I am a big "made in Michigan" person, I was eager to try a new Michigan wine.It was a little before 5pm on Saturday when I walked in the door. No one greeted me, no "can I help you" or "someone will be right with you." I walked up to the display to see if there was some procedure I missed. Still no one approached me. There were two tables of people enjoying wine on the porch, so I knew service was available; I decided to persevere. I looked around, and it looked like there was indoor table service as well as wine tasting at a nice looking wood bar, so I walked up to the bar. Several people were already being helped by two servers; there was one person who didn't seem to be engaged, so I thought I might be helped.I stepped up to the bar and took one of the forms for wine tasting; surely someone would see I was interested in being served. No help, no eye contact. I might as well have been invisible. At that point, I should have spoken up, but instead, I put the menu back on the bar and walked out. It was a big disappointment, especially because it seems that other people enjoyed their experiences. There are other wineries in Michigan with friendly, helpful employees that will be getting my business.
Had a very nice lunch here on our trip around the Thumb. Very pleasant service. Nice conversation about the area. Had a great pulled pork sandwich and German potato salad. Wine was good. I will make this a stop next time we are in town.
They have a good thing on their hands. We make this one of our frequent stops when we are in Lexington. The atmosphere is very nice and the bartender is super friendly. They have an assortment of wines that they make themselves. My wife and I love the ICE WINE. They have also started having music on the weekends and now serve sandwiches and such. I would recommend a visit when you are in town.
-$1.00 per tasting is not a bad deal-Brewery just opened so now serving beer-Great hours-Not bad prices on buying bottles to take with you-Entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays-Lots of seating-Connected with the Blue Water Winery-Friendly staff
The bartender was very knowledgable about the different wines. Enjiyed our tasting and bought two bottles
I've bought a few cases of wine from here over the last few years. It's my effort to support local wine producers on the east side of Michigan. I tend to use the red table wine to make sangria. It doesn't stand on its own for me. All the whites I've tried (dry, please) are good. The atmosphere of the shop is charming and the staff is knowledgable and helpful.
We are not really wine drinkers, but it seemed like something to do on a romantic weekend away. So we did a lot of sampling. Samples are only $1 each which is very fair considering the amount they give you for each sample. Service was friendly and considering how many people were in there I thought they did a very good job serving everyone as quickly as possible.
The winery is very friendly and we felt welcomed. We enjoyed the wine. Tastings are $1 apiece, but we anticipated the fee to be waived as we purchased two bottles of wine. You may want to consider waiving tasting fees for customers.
