This park is so picturesque and truly something from a painting. Perfect for exercise, picnics and reflection.

This is a great area if you enjoy running or if you just want to sit and watch the sunset over the river.

A nice spot of greenery with beautiful trees offering a lovely view of a pretty river, all in the city. Beautiful buildings line the street along the park and river with great views. Is very nice year-round. Is a very narrow park, several miles long but just 10 yards wide in the northern section. Has a good paved walking trail. Plenty of park-goers in daylight hours, but pretty empty at night.Be careful at nighttime as crime in the city is bad, including in the park : muggings and assaults, including a stabbing murder in november of '14.

Nothing better than going for a stroll along the Riverfront. Make your way over to the park for some mini golf or other games.

Wow, this is a great place to spend a few hours. If you time it right, you can be there for a Native American Pow-Wow. Yes, it's the real thing. If not, there are batting cages, minigolf, pony rides, and the Pride of the Susquehanna (a 45 minute narrated ride on the River. Of course, all of these things are during the temperate months. You can walk around the encircling paved path year-round, though. Parking is just a couple of $ at the site.

It's a joy when a city realizes the treasure it has in its riverfront and developes it into such a lovely park for walking, jogging, bikeing, sitting, watching the sunsets, strolling hand in hand...whatever's your pleasure. Saunter across the pedestrian bridge to City Island in the middle of the river for a picnic and to gaze back at the city. Many events happen here...but mostly folks enjoying a few stolen moments of quietude (keep your iPhone in your pocket).Just be.

The park was very nice. There are actually 3 different paths running parallel to the river. One is down the stairs right next to the water (we were there about sunset and the bugs were coming out), and then there are two paths at park level. If they could get everyone on a certain path, say for example, walkers down by the water, joggers and walkers on one of the upper trails and bicyclers on the other upper trail, things were work a little easier because people won't be trying to dodge each other. There is room to walk across the various bridges. Also, we noticed at sunset the homeless were settling in for the evening so you probably don't want to be out there after dusk. We also saw what we believe to be a family of badgers living down by the main bridge, and not too afraid of people, so be warned. Also, the street signs are deceiving. This is what dropped our review to average. We parked on a side street (since we couldn't find any actual parking lot for the park), and thought it was okay because the sign we parked under said "Permits required 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday". We arrived after 5pm and thought we were safe, Uh, no. We were out of the car less than an hour and when we came back we had a parking ticket for $30. I called the court to ask why and was told that every parking spot has to be paid. Apparently, a few cars ahead of us was a park-&-pay ticket box instead of actual meters. There were no numbers on the parking spots and nothing to indicate we needed to pay anything. That was our mistake. Instead of using a space number for the pay station, you use your license plate. And no, they wouldn't drop the ticket based on tourists not knowing how the system works. So no matter where you park, if you see the little boxes with the blue "P" for parking, it's best to just pay to be safe.

I have been here many times over the years, this week the “Woof Fest” dog rally brought us into town. This is an annual event that is always held here at Riverfront Park. There is an annual Arts Fest – usually held on the Memorial Day weekend (I have made numerous purchases at these shows), and the famous end of summer “Kipona” festival held on the Labor Day Weekend.Every day this park gets used by the many, joggers, walkers, cyclists, and dog walkers who wisely make this beautiful river walk a part of their work outs. There are many large trees and you will be in the shade most of the time. I feel safe when I am here.This scenic park includes a trail that runs parallel to the Susquehanna River. One part of the path includes exercise stations (pull ups, etc.). There is a lower path that goes right along the water. Keep in mind that you are only three blocks from Central Pennsylvania’s best “restaurant row”, which is only 3 blocks east, and runs from about Market Street to Forster Street (If you are on Front Street –this is the area between the Harvey Taylor Bridge at Forster Street, and the Market Street bridge at Market Street.).The mayor announced this month that they will soon be closing one of the driving lanes on Front Street and converting it to a bike lane, so this will open up the older paths strictly to pedestrians.

I have cycled through there on three separate occasions. Each time there is something going on. The view is wonderful, and the art is "interesting". The flowers and shrubs in bloom are a sight to behold with the river as the backdrop!The walking bridge over to the island is enjoyable, looking up at the buildings on one side and down at the water on the other. I stopped half way and just watched the water and fowl for a awhile, then I watch the people go by for a while. Always some "interesting" people to see, just dont wake them up or give them money.The City Island, accessible by a bridge reminds me of places I would go back in the late 50's and early 60's in the mid-west. Baseball, boats, boat rides, carnival rides, buggy rides, games, picnics, etc. Young people may miss the electronics but I loved the practice kind of rides and amusements.I thought there was a lot of activity and a lot of things to do and see here. It may not be a place where you visit regularly, but it is certainly a place to visit once, or in my case once a year on my visit to the city!

For a very pleasant experience, be sure to take the pedestrian-only bridge that extends across the river. The other end takes you to the City Island Park where you can take a boat tour, or just sit on one of the benches and watch the river activities.

Very scenic spot, maybe the best around my area. Nice walk and pictures, especially the walking bridge but there is little else to do outside of a Senators game and although Front St. Is close its quickly turning into a ghost town.

This is a beautiful walk along a beautiful river. The area is safe and worth a walk, run, or bike ride. take a break from your day at work or when visiting the capital city.

Really enjoyed walking along the Susquehanna River and being able to use Walnut Street Bridge to get to the City Island park.

A super place to spend quality time with family and friends...relax and picnic by the river banks, jog, ride the mini train around the park (a kid favorite), check out the Harrisburg Senators baseball game, take a very tranquil river boat cruise or paddle your own vessel. Lots of bikers and runners using the trail. Benches to stop and enjoy the view. Felt completely safe and enjoyed looking at the brownstone houses across the street.
