I recently went to Sheeder Mill Farm with a group of friends - we had a great experience and would highly-recommend it!The horses were nicely groomed, well-mannered, alert and happy. As a rider, it made me feel good to be around them, knowing how well they must be treated. If you've ever had a bad experience with a trail ride, you know it makes a huge difference. [The happy dogs with wagging tails hanging at the barn were a bonus, too!]The staff was wonderful. They greeted us when we arrived and were patient and helpful to everyone in the group, all beginners. Throughout the entire ride, they chatted with us, talked about the horses and the surroundings and made everyone feel comfortable. The scenery was lovely and the trails well-maintained.And it all ended with a picnic in the woods. There was a picnic table, bench, chairs and a campfire waiting for us, along with all of the refreshments we'd brought. How wonderful it was to ride through the peaceful woods on a beautiful horse, then have dinner and wine by a campfire with friends. Can't wait to go back!
My husband and I love to go horseback riding, and have been in search of a good place to go. We found this gem, and could not have been more pleased. Our guide, Todd, took us out for two hours, helped us learn to trot, and chatted with us the whole time. The horses were beautiful, well trained, and it was a fantastic experience. We will definitely be going again. Don't let inexperienced riders ruin your plans with low ratings.
The hour and 1/2 trail ride was through stream and woods but essentially, just back and forth on the same stretch of trail. Teenager guide micromanaged riders which made ride frustrating. Guides engaged very little with our group whereas they could have made it more interesting if they had shared about the animals we might see, or some history about the covered bridge and the general area. The guides tried hard to keep the horses in the group so close together that they spooked each other. At $50 per person, the experience was a disappointment.
