This state park is very close to Hidden Valley Resort and it is beautiful.. we love to kayak and this is a perfect lake to do so in. Can't wait for the weather to break to go back

We take our kayaks here at least 5 times a year. If you go in the evenings the wildlife is very active. We can't wait for spring to get back on the water.

We love taking the kids because the kids love going. This time we brought a Scanoe and got sunburned on the water. Bring a lot of sunscreen.

Mostly well marked trails. We lost the Tram trail by the waterfall as we wanted to loop back but it wasn't marked as to where to go past the trail intersection near the dam/waterfall. Very. Ice though. Loved it.

We rented a pavilion for a large family gathering and really enjoyed how easy it was to make the reservations. Arriving (as we've never been here before) we were VERY impressed with how big and beautiful this park is. The colors in the trees from the fall season were amazing! The Lakeview Pavilion was outstanding! Had hot and cold running water, a nice wood burning fire place inside with stone chimney and tables and couches inside. Also a large deck overlooking the lake with picnic tables in front and on the deck. The porta-jon was spacious and very clean. The only negative was the "park style" grill outside to cook on. Those are difficult to maintain a good temp, but worked well for the hamburgers and hot dogs we had.

This is one of our area's best resources for fishing, hiking, swimming, camping and enjoying nature. Check it out!

Beautiful views, gorgeous Fall colours but very lonely if you choose to take a \Fall walk. The camp site was relatively well-subscribed but the trails were empty.

Laurel Hill seems to be one of those places in the mountains that calls you back time after time. The lake is clean and well maintained and each season holds something special from colorful Fall leaves to cooling Summer days spent near (or in) the water. There are fabulous hiking trails and some down home festivals that can entertain a family for hours. It's one of my favorite places in the mountains. If you enjoy fishing....then this is the place! It's been a long time since we have stayed at the campground, but it was always enjoyable, too. We always come back feeling refreshed and revived after spending a day at this park. And it's been that way over many years.

We stayed one night in a tent. Our site was nice, though you could hear the road behind us. I still liked the loop we were in. It was very quiet, no one around us. Everyone was friendly. I liked that there was a place to wash dishes. Not all campgrounds have that. It makes clean up easier. We didn't explore much because we didn't have much time, but the area looks lovely. We wandered over to the beach, which looked very inviting. The trails look good, too, but we didn't have time to go on them. We'd like to go back and do more.

We were impressed by how clean and well-kept this park it. The beach area is extremely accessible for those with mobility problems, even having a special sand wheelchair at the ready near the accessible parking area. We camped over an August weekend and really enjoyed it, but we didn't love that the campsites are almost all right on the road and very close together. We drove around one morning and singled out a handful of sites as our favorites - they had the most space around them and typically had easy bathroom and playground access since we travel with a 3- and 6-year old. The loop that we stayed in made it very easy to bike up to the gate house for some firewood or ice, and we could walk to the beach through a field, which was awesome since we prefer not to use our car. Our particular campsite was picked blind, but it turned out to have a stream, and be directly next to a playground and have direct access to a bathroom, both without being too close for noise and comfort. I found this to be one of the friendliest campgrounds I've been to - we've been to a few around Pittsburgh this summer and nobody ever talks to anybody else. Since you're camping really near each other, it is nice if at least a little weather talk happens!I wish there were more hiking trails starting from the campground, but the ones there are are beautiful. We didn't enjoy the hiking on the multi-use trails, but once we left that for the actual hiking trails, we all had a great time. Also, because camping with kids requires a lot of food prep, we decided to eat out twice this time. We hit Hometown pizza on our way in on Route 31 just past Sarnelli's - nothing special, but perfect with kids. And then for breakfast one morning we found a diner in Somerset called the Summit diner - well worth the scenic 15 minute drive.

This place is great to fish, swim and hang out to meet new people. This is a great place to hang in the summertime.

My husband and I stayed in Laurel Hill State Park with our 3 children ages 11, 14 and 16 on a visit to Pennsylvania and the Ohiopyle State Park area for a rafting trip. We stayed in a camper cabin which was very nice and easily accommodated all 5 of us. It is somewhat like camping indoors - nice wood cabin with electricity and beds. Beds are covered with sheets, but bring blankets or sleeping bags and pillows. There is electricity and lights (no TV), but bathroom facilities are at a bath house. The cabin had a nice screened in porch and a fire ring. There is a nice swimming beach at the park and beautiful hiking trails and scenery. In the campground there is a playground and sand volleyball.

I have been going to this park for many years. It is a great place to go camping, picnicking, hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, etc. We don't live far so we like to pack a picnic and take the kids for the day. They have picnic tables and pavilions close to the beach area. Some have charcoal grills you can cook on. You just have to bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid. If you don't want to pack a lunch they have food for sale on most days. The beach area is nice and they have a small playground as well as several different boats you can rent. Right across the street is the campground. They have many sites to choose from depending on what type of camping you want to do. We normally tent camp in the rustic sites which have no electric. Their is a bathroom with showers close by as well as two playgrounds for the kids. They also have electric sites, pet sites if you want to bring your dog, and small cabins. On Saturdays they play different movies at the Amphitheatre. They have snacks for sale or you can bring your own. If you like hiking their are many trails throughout the park. Our favorite is the pumphouse trail. It is an easy trail through the woods. You know you reached the end when you come to a small but beautiful waterfall. If you like fishing their are many great places to choose from throughout the park. You can fish the lake or one of the many creeks. Overall it is a great place to go to just get away and relax.
