I took my daughter here for the first time for the "By the light of the Moon" event listed in the Montgomery County calendar of events. This is a little gem in Montgomery County. The event was quite a bit of fun. They have a number of animals and birds, which range from common farm animals to wolves, deer, hawks, owls, amphibians, reptiles, etc. The staff are very knowledgeable about the animals and it is evident that have close bonds with them as well. This is a great place for the family to visit for a couple hours and would absolutely be great for little kids. The park is just big enough that it will keep the little ones from loosing interest and getting too cranky. I would recommend visiting the park with the kids as it's close, family friendly and affordable.
Been there many times. Animals are well cared for and the 2 wolves are cool. It's your tax money so, visit and enjoy. It's Free.
We love this little place. Our son loves animals and asks to go here often. It is a very low key free activity where he can observe many different animals. Addtionally, he enjoys watching the boats on the river and running free in the open grace. There is a picnic area down by the river and a boat launch. While there aren't any glamorous amenities, it has everything you need for a nice family outing. There are rustic public restrooms. As mentioned by someone else, it is very well maintained. The animals seem happy and healthy. I am especially impressed by the wolves. For a small wildlife park this is so much fun and a great place to take your family. If you have been there before expect to spend about 45 minutes. If you have never been you could easily walk the ground in one hour or take more time and enjoy a picnic in the shaded area. There aren't many free activities anymore and this is still free. I encourage you to make a donation at the donation box located next to the turtle pond in the small building by the parking lot. They are open until sunset, but I noticed that they do close the gates before then so plan accordingly.
This is by far one of the best Parks / Wildlife Centers I have ever visited. The Park is located on Route 113, not far from where I currently reside. The grounds are immaculate. The Staff and Rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Each Species has a perfect habitat and are extremely well cared for by a devoted Staff. My friend and I started off near the Goats and worked our way around. The Park is constantly making Upgrades. On new display is Schuylkill Wilds. Indingenous amphibians, fish, turtles and mammals which can be found along the banks of the Schuylkill River and its Branches. The rabbits will be a favorite. I LOVED the Raptors. Some have said the habitats look "sad." They are not. My friend and I were there during feeding time. Each Species acted in true vulture, hawk, eagle and owl fashion. The Red Tail Hawk jumped from perch to perch until it was directly in front of me, then began to eat its mouse. It was awesome. Some species were hiding from the heat. It was in the low 90's. Each habitat had fresh water. The newest edition to the Park's Family are 2 BEAUTIFUL Gray Wolf pups (buff colored). Hunter and Scout. Hunter was out LOVING his block of ice. It is a MUST see if you are in the area. Do not forget to bring a picnic lunch and eat by the River. We will be going back SOON :)
