They set up a special private evening tour for our group of 24. Tour guide was great and funny. The buildings are amazing! It was interesting to see how the beer was made 200 years ago and now how it's made today. Great tour and beer tasting. Fun!

I have lived in the area all my life and have introduced many of my friends and work associates to the tour. They all said how much they enjoyed the visit. You should check on the scheduled tour times so you don't not have to wait. You won't be disappointed. The building is old and there are stairs and narrow hall ways that may be difficult for the older folks.

Great tour. About 1 hour, kid friendly 10+. Great history info about PA's oldest brewery. Several steps if you can't do steps probably not for you. Check it out, its a great story.

My girlfriend and I got to the brewery too late for the 10 AM tour so we had to wait for the 1:30 PM tour. The gift shop staff (very nice) directed us to a pizza restaurant that we could walk to. We had a nice lunch and returned for the tour which had gotten surprisingly full for a cold Thursday in January. I love their beer so it is no surprise that I loved every minute of the tour. The caves were amazing and I have never seen anything like that before. Great information, history, and best of all a family business that continues on to this day, Wonderful tour, worth the ride, I cant say enough nice things, I wish I had more money to spend in the gift shop as I would have bought more stuff. The tour guide/bartender (Debbie if I recall correctly) let us take pictures behind the bar after we got to try some samples. I have been to a few breweries but this was the most historical one by far, The folks at Yuengling make you feel like family- and I feel good knowing i am supporting a family business that has been around since 1829. I truly feel that beer built America- and this family had a part in that history. God Bless America.

Yuengling has been my husband's favourite beer for many years and we drive between Baltimore and Buffalo NY at least once a year. It was only a matter of time til we stopped here, and we couldn't have been happier that we did. Our tour guide was fantastic ... we had our reluctant 15 and 18 year olds with us and she even had them laughing. We learned so much and saw most of the brewery, including the hand carved caves. I highly recommend this American owned brewery to anyone that has any interest in learning how beer is made, bottled, canned, delivered. Very interesting if to tee-totaller me!

We went there on a Wednesday - and it was the perfect day since we were only 15 people on the tour. The guide was very entertaining and knew everything about the brewery and the history. The tour began and ended in the Ratskeller were we could also sample the beer.

I was in Pottsville working today and decided to check out the FREE brewery tour of America's oldest brewery. Tips:Bring quarters to park, and walking shoes. Tour is in and out of several buildings, so bring appropriate jacket as necessary.Finding the address wasn't so hard, but locating the gift shop is a little confusing, as it is up a side street and through a few hallways. There is an interesting Yuengling beer gift shop with all your beer souveniers. Tours are twice a day, and last about 1 hour. At the end of the tour you get two small cups of beer for free. If you are a beer lover, add this to your list. As for me, I probably wont go back.

Great tour and history! A must see when in the area! Remember to wear closed toed shoes and you might want to take a jacket for your visit to the old cooling caves! Coming in 2015 a new gift shop in the re-purposed Yuengling Ice Cream plant!

This is a neat tour of an old, but still operating brewery. The caves are cool, the paintings are great, and the history is interesting. The beer at the end is also welcome. I tour breweries of all sizes, and this was fairly large, but nothing like the Miller or Budweiser behemoths. I think the age adds much to the interest, and unused items in the caves are beautiful in that rusty, abandoned sort of way that I really like. I recommend this to beer fans, but also to history fans, as this brewery has some years behind it, and hopefully in front of it.

If you like your brewery tour with old buildings, old pipes, old caves, old beer smell, happy tour guides and a slosh of excellent Suds at the end this is the place for you. It's the real deal, an ACTUAL brewery tour. Yuengling beer is the best !!!

I only live 3 miles from the original Yuengling brewery and make a point of taking any of my out of town friends or family there when they visit. I enjoy the tour just as much each time I go, because as with any tour, the guide sets the tone and each has their own fun tidbits of trivia, which prevents it from getting old. In order to take the tour, closed toe shoes are required - once you're there, you'll understand why. Upon completion of the tour, you'll have the option of trying any of their beers that are currently in season. No fears for those under 21 - they do offer a birch beer alternative. If you have about 2 hours to go, make it happen.

Friday morning at 10AM, around 50 strangers showed up to go on the tour of America's Oldest Brewery. People were from all over the country. Tip: Make sure you wear closed toe and heeled shoes. Our tour guide was lively, informative and fun with bad jokes and all. We followed her upstairs and downstairs and into and out of a tunnel. Yes, be prepared to walk and do steps. We were shown where the beer is brewed, stored, and canned. We learned what grains go into which brands. Porter is the breakfast of beers. Then we concluded our tour in the tasting room where we each could select two beers to try. By the end of the time we were all no longer strangers. Next door is the gift shop which has a plethora of Yuengling items for sale: napkins, sauces, shirts, dog collars, and more. This room also contains historic documents, photos and cans and beer bottles from over the years. It is like a museum in that respect. This is a great thing to do and it is free! The only negative is that parking spaces are tricky to find and you will probably have to put in a few quarters into a meter for this off street parallel parking. Enjoy! I would do this tour again!

We stopped by Yuengling on the way between Cooperstown and Gettysburg. We arrived with enough time (tours are at 10 AM and 1:30 AM) to wander around the gift shop before gathering for the tour. We were shown the facility and told lots of interesting facts about the company. Afterwards we were treated to two small glasses of Yuengling beers. Some of them are not sold outside of the surrounding Pottsville area.

Looking for something fun and interesting to do? Make the trip to visit and tour this brewery, you won't be disappointed! We went on a Saturday - we'll be going back during the week to see them 'running' - and had a great time. The staff is wonderful, the tour is FREE and the beer is tasty! Highly recommend visiting their website for hours, tour times and restrictions - they have a room full of shoes to change into if you show up in flip flops or sandals! :) Also be sure to get and follow directions in town, it's obvious - once you get to the right street...
