schwenkfelder library & heritage center

We went here for a class to earn a girl scout badge - they had rooms for classes - wonderful instructors who really kept these 8 year old girls interest. The museum is open to the public and I wish I had more time to explore - will definitely go back as it is free!!!

The changing exhibits are always interesting here and you don't need to know anything about the Schwenkfelders, a sect from Silesia, in advance. The staff is very helpful. It is a treat to go at Christmastime to see the charming Putz (holiday tableau in miniature). The Schwenkfelder Library also has a small and very nice gift shop full of charming items for purchase, many handcrafted.

Absolute wealth of history in culture within the doors. The staff was extremely helpful. The displays were beautiful. I never knew we had such a hidden treasure right here in our back yard.

The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center does a wonderful job of sharing a wealth of interesting and helpful information. There is ever changing exhibits of art and historical information, and much more. My favorite exhibits are usually those pertaining to textiles or their wonderful fraktur collection. There is the permanant exhibit that tells the story of the Schwenkfelders as well as the local history from Southeastern PA and the Perkiomen Valley. Then there is the library with genealogical, local historical documents, and materials related to the Schwenkfelders.There really is something for everyone.
