This is a must see for any wine drinker. I am lucky to live so close, their wine is amazing and so is the scenery. You can also order a delicious burger too!
This little cozy place is one of my favorite places to be. Not only do the have some of the best wine I have every tasted, the staff is amazing. So friendly and great to talk to. You can feel the care that they feel for every customer to make them have the best experience.
Very cute winery with a beautiful surrounding. This is a really nice place to go to enjoy wine and eat and hang out with friends and sit on the patio. The view is very nice and it's very relaxing. When you go inside, you get to sample whatever wine you would like to try and then you can buy a bottle and grab a seat and stay for as long as you want. They have catered food outside that you can order and pick up and take to your table. They do not have a wait service so you are expected to keep your table clean and throw your garbage away, but it's a great concept and no one is rushing you to leave. We love dry wine and the Baco is our favorite. They also have great mulled wine at this time of year.
Such a pleasant winery surrounded by beautiful scenery. Got to enjoy wine samples and visited with friends. Shared some wine and bought some to take home. I love the fact that is 3 miles down the road.
The wine tasting was a nice deal. 3$ for 5 tastings and then a free souvenir wine glass. I found it odd that you could have 3 free tasting, but after I agreed to do the tasting I was told that I only had 2 tastings left for my 3$, even though the wine list clearly states there can be 3 complementary tastings. The autumn Riesling was definitely a favorite. Both the berry and peach wines were very good as well. The decor is nice and there is plenty of outdoor seating. The food was not very good and kind of pricey given the quality. I ordered a cheese quesadilla (8$) and a veggie burger (8.50$). The burger was basically a pile of mush. Wasn't very tasty either. The quesadilla was, well a tortilla with cheese. There was also no wait staff-- you had to order your own food at the grill and bus your own table. Also odd. The girls working behind the bar were kind if standoffish and very strict about the rules-- you cannot order food for people who have no yet shown up. Apparently a lot of people order good and never show up? (May be a way of enforcing the rule that you must order wine before you order food). Also, their website says you can find a menu on their Facebook page, which I could not locate. Case in point: go for the wine and you will have a great time! (Just eat before you go )
I enjoyed the wine tasting. I also liked the snacks, but the food wasn't that good. I didn't like the fact that you had to walk over to an area to order and then go back to get the food. Sometimes it is too crowded to get a seat. I actually like Narcissi Winery better.
Very great wine and excellent food with superb service and extremely clean and well kept grounds makes for a carefree evening with friends and loved ones. Always has a few new wines for us to try even though we go every weekend. We are yet to find anything wrong but have found everything right. My only fear is winter when it closes. Take care yall, Bobbi Livingston
It was a birthday night out and a new experience for both of us. We were excited to go as my guy also known as that guy had been at the winery earlier in the week and talked to the proprietor Jeff who filled him in on the weekend festivities. We went last Saturday night. It is in two words a "hidden treasure". The atmosphere, the beauty of the winery setting high on a hill, the warm décor in the winery which was a beautifully converted and redecorated barn was amazing. The staff is fabulous and wonderful and totally helpful in describing all the wines. You are invited to enjoy three complimentary wine tastings of your choice or you can purchase a souvenir wine glass at a minimal cost and enjoy five wine tastings. Of course we opted for the souvenir glasses (it was a birthday and date night celebration) and the five different wine tastings were delightful and the decision was not easy to choose our bottles of wine. We finally made our selections and my guy even received a complimentary glass of wine for his birthday which was a nice personal touch which we appreciated. There is beautiful outdoor seating, live entertainment to be enjoyed from 3 to 9 and there is food available as you partake of your new wine and fun night out. We had great chicken sandwiches and homemade potato chips which were delicious. You can only order food if you purchase the wine which seems logical to us since we were there to experience and drink the wine and go out to a relaxing casual dinner. Dress is casual, comfortable and the weather was beautiful that evening. A magical night to say the least. We can't wait to go back and bring friends to share it with too. It's our new favorite place!
I try to make it to this place atleast once EVERY weekend. The owners are such terrific people. I honestly feel like they are 'family' when I'm there. Whether I'm just with my hubby- or a group of friends, the Wooden Door NEVER disappoints. They go above & beyond to make sure you are happy. The atmosphere is PERFECT after a long week...It's so relaxing! I have NEVER experienced a 'bad' wine there, but there's a few I prefer over others. I've met so many different people there that have become life long friends. I truly can't even express how AWESOME this place is-you HAVE to experience it on your own to understand. As an extra bonus, there is live entertainment sometimes - they will have an acoustic jam going on or a singer... Tommy's Catering provides a GREAT selection of menu items from appetizers to pastas & everything in between. - If you'd rather bring your own snacks or food, that option is also available. If you haven't been here yet, you are depriving yourself! I feel TRULY privileged that I live so close & this place is able to be TOPS on my weekend agenda.
We frequent the Wooden Door Winery often and have always had a wonderful time! They have a great variety of reds/whites sweets/drys. The atmosphere is very relaxing and beautiful. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend trying it for your next evening out - you won't be disappointed. Their hours are Thursday 4-9 pm, and Friday/Saturday 3-9 pm.
I was looking forward to a nice birthday celebration with my daughter and friends at Wooden Door Winery. I wasn't in the door for 2 minutes when the owner snapped at me twice. The first time was when I commented to my daughter that it smelled good inside, like grapes! The owner sarcastically said to me, "well it is a winery". Then he saw I was carrying balloons and as I was speaking to a long time friend who had approached me, he interrupted us to tell me that "Balloons aren't allowed in here!'. I was holding them down low so that they wouldn't bother anyone until we got to the outside tables. I was surprised to learn later that he was the owner. I assumed that he must have been an unhappy employee. The employees couldn't have been nicer. He should take note from them. I will go to Narcisi next time.
The Wooden Door WInery is a very special place. Not only are the wines clean, pure, and excellent (no "wine headache" the next day!), the owners/vintners, Jeff and Krissy, have provided an idyllic oasis on a hilltop which evokes the feeling of being on vacation in some lovely European locale. Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy all that the Wooden Door has to offer! Best burgers anywhere made by Tommy! We suggest getting there early, as it can get crowded after 6.
My wife and I and our "wine" friends have visited well over 100 wineries in 6 states. We often spend an afternoon at local wineries also. Our first visit to the Wooden Door MORE than met our expectations on so many levels. First and foremost, of course, is the wine selection and quality. They have wines for all tastes and all we sampled and purchased were unique, enjoyable, and very well made. Next is the service which we found to be top notch. The ownership was present and working quite hard to make sure everyone was being served and informed about their wines. Then comes the property, my goodness is it special. Spacious and comfortable inside, and really nice seating areas outdoors. Many table settings under roof on the patio, a few picnic tables under and near trees, a BBQ dining area near the full service grill when open. I hear their burgers are excellent. A lot of thought and care has been placed on landscaping the grounds and they are beautiful and very relaxing. The owners permit you to bring outside snacks for your visit but leave the big cooler and hibachi at home. How was our day? We had planned on a one hour stay while splitting a bottle between the four of us. We ended up enjoying 3 bottles over 3 hours of inspired relaxation. There is only one problem with this winery, it is 35 miles from my house, and the owners will not move it closer... These owners are doing everything right!
My wife and I recently took a tour of the Wooden Door Winery, and we were super impressed with the place. I am a amateur wine maker and so enjoyed this place! The owner shared his knowledge of wine making tips, and we got to see first hand the process into their hard working facility. Our entire group loved their wines! I will be bringing many friends back here!! Keep up the great work. Steve
Not a bad location and place ....but the wine was bad we had two bottles...red.. horrible.. one as bad as the other..seems like a nice outside cheap place for ppl to hang out..if they served good wine this place would be super... wine is so mass produced... its hard to finish it..Toilet was overflowing ..appears a good cheap place for parties of all ages..
