Mluddy Run Park is very peaceful and family friendly. There is a lot to do and see. The lake is beautiful. They have a lot to offer to meet a campers needs from the snack shack, to the camp store. Everything is well maintained and clean. I was very surprised at how clean the shower house and bathrooms were at all times. The playground was right behind our camper, and it too was very well mainted and clean. Camping here was a very wonderful experience. I can't wait to go it again.
My family has been camping at Muddy Run since the 70s. It's vast and very well maintained. It's fairly inexpensive to take a boat out in the large man-made lake. The camp store has everything you need, and the snack bar has excellent food. Good hiking trails, plenty of wildlife. They have a deer overpopulation sometimes, but occasionally have doe hunts to fix the problem. Geese are a problem; there's a very large Canadian geese population that often litter the lake sides with droppings. I wish they had a pool for campers.
Excellent campground. It's a great location if your looking for outdoor things to do. We enjoy the fishing, kayaking, paddle boats and hiking trails. The grounds are very wellKept. Roads are made one way as they should be and the sites are spacious and nice. Snack bar prices are very reasonable and affordable. They also have weekend activities for the children: not the best activities but hey it's something for them to do. Only downfall.. NO sewer hookup. NO pool. That's fine for a weekend getaway. Take a tour of the reservoir you will learn a lot about the grounds.
The trail along the lake is lovely, well-marked, and has a variety of views so you don't get bored during the two-hour hike. It has gentle up-and-down terrain the whole way, so it's a good work-out without being too strenouous. The only reason I did not give it a 5 is because at the end of the trail when you cross over the dam, there are no signs or markers directing you back to the parking lot at the starting point. It's a bit confusing. Also, it's about another .5 miles to get back to the parking lot, so one should take that into account when planning the hike.
