It 's a bit off the beaten path but those who enjoy history should find this spot which dates back to colonial times. We had our own tour since visitors were scarce. The guides are well informed. There is even a gift shop.
We visited Historic Hanna's Town on a dreary Saturday afternoon, and although my husband and I were the sole visitors, we were enthusiastically greeted, and taken on a fabulous tour. We were able to see the inside of the tavern, which is a recreation, the garden, and an authentic Conestoga Wagon which is locked up in a barn on the back of the property. We certainly learned a lot about this history of this area. I highly recommend stopping in here for a tour.
Historic Hanna's Town is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The reconstructed town and fort provide a look into the life of colonial American settlers. Unlike places like Williamsburg that make life in early America seem somewhat glamorous Hanna's Town gives a more realistic feel of how difficult life really was. The town was on an important road to the western frontier and was an early advocate for independence. Guides were knowledgeable and the original Congestoga Wagon was amazing.
Nice little fort at out of way location. We went for the Antique and collectors Flea market and it was great. Nice to have these events with the fort in the background,
