The views are spectacular and then in certain times you can ride the lifts up and down, which is a great thing to do in the fall. Walk up and down the hill or even through some of the trails for a nice day of adventure and exercise.
Riding the ski lift in the fall is always a great experience. Walking around and viewing the fall colors is great.
The views were amazing, I walked a lot and was quit a pleasant time. I would recommend to any one who is a out doors person and wants something to do out side in the winter
Great skiing and snowboard but it is pricy. Cascade Mountain is close but not many runs. Less expensive
We traveled to Wausau because there is no snow in Milwaukee and even though it was 5 degrees we had a wonderful time snowshoeing on their trails. This park is wonderful any time of the year. Unfortunately the only restrooms open were at the park office, that would have been good to know before we drove farther into the park.
This is a beautiful park and easy to find. We visited in the fall and the foliage was brilliant. The fire tower was a fun climb. We also hiked a trail. (They are pretty well marked.) We observed many walkers and joggers on the asphalt sidewalks along the road.
Rib Mountain State Park's beauty captures the joy of the seasons! Great photo opportunities, the photos I was able to capture are awesome, so I am told! (Especially in the fall with its wonderful fall foliage). In the fall, for a small fee, you can ride the ski lift and view the colors from above! The hiking trails provide opportunity to see the beauty of Wisconsin at its finest while at the same time giving you a good workout! A great place to have a picnic, enjoy family time and being one with nature! If you are in the right place, you can even spot some wildlife in the woods!
I love the fact that you can get out of town and find peace and quiet along with the beauty of nature in a very short distance. There are great hiking trails and lots of beauty. If you take the time to climb the tower you can see for what feels like miles. You can also see into Wausau which is really cool. Even if you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle this is a great place to go. One last thing, they have an area there where you can have weddings and it makes for a wonderful outdoor wedding!! It is a place to go see!
As others have said the view is very beautiful especially in Fall when the color is amazing. It is a true delight to see how scenic and beautiful Wisconsin is. Even the city view makes a person give pause and consider living in this gem like area!
Rib Mountain State Park is a diamond in the rough. It has nice hiking trails, a tower to climb and lookout over a large scenic area of miles. Also can see downtown from the tower. In the fall, the leaves are golden and crisp to walk on. It is not over crowded if you go during the week, The ski lift also is open for a fee to ride up and down the mountain a couple of weekends in the fall.
This park has many fun trails to explore, the view from the lookout is fabulous, we visited in late fall and are looking forward to returning in the spring, entrance fees are very reasonable.
Beautiful view from the top of the lookout tower. I was there as the leaves were changing & it was georgeous. There were 3 couples a 12 & 4 yr old. They all loved climbing the rock formations, they do have miles of walking trails also. For a few weekends in the fall you can take a ride on the ski lift to look at the fall colors we did not do this. They do have a canteen & gift shop we had some brats & hot chocolates.
We set out to see fall foliage, hike and explore the Wausau area, and RMSP in particular. Great trails for hiking, and the 60' tower in the park that we climbed gave us outstanding views of the area. There are beautiful paved biking trails in the park too!
a 1 hour pass is 5.00 or 10.00 for the day lots of trails with great views plus a chairlift ride and a little snack shack
The first time we visited, we drove up to the park. There is an entrance fee and there are a couple of options. One side of the park has several hiking trails, some more challenging than others (up and down a bit) but none very difficult. There are nice views of the area and of Wausau. It's seems very popular and there is a walking trail up to the park, about 2 miles I think, that is also very popular.
