Good winter hiking. The trail is groomed but not to the point of taking away the challenge completely.

This past late summer my then boyfriend (now fiancee) went on a small WI waterfall tour. We SO did NOT get to see even half as many as we had planned. I am SO glad we made it here though! Definitely requires one to be physically in-shape-long trails and if you walk around enough-you do need to climb...the trails are steep some of them...& quite a number of stairs (like 200) up to the fire tower. So if you don't want lots of exercise, don't go. Some of the sights are a little dissapointing, but if you discreetly (yet safely) go on the other side of the fence, some of those views are worth it!The views are amazing no matter what! EVEN from the fire tower (I'm hysterical about heights...but luckily my fiancee didn't force me to go further up the tower than I could without shutting down...and the photos he took from the top are amazing!A DEFINITE MUST EXPERIENCE!!!

We hiked the Doughboy trail, and it's amazing! We crossed several scenic bridges and we were amazed at the many lookout areas over the water and several waterfalls. The copper color of the water and falls is stunning against the white snow and ice. The stairs are slippery when snow covered, but manageable with the proper footwear. We also hiked to the observation tower, which is okay, not super impressive in the winter. Our total hike was 2 hours, but we stopped a lot and took a lot of photos! It was a great hike and even the skeptics in my group were very impressed!!

It took a little to drive here and it is $10 to get into the park but the hike was great. We did a loop around the falls over 3 bridges and saw so many incredible frozen waterfalls and sculptures. It was a warmer day so the snow on the trees was melting and the squirrels were out gathering more food for winter.There were other people hiking so you didn't have a problem staying on the trail, we met snowshoers and saw several x-country trails. I'm looking forward to seeing the same area in the summer.

There is a $10 per car admission cost for out-of-state visitors. The hike can be strenuous, but the scenery is beautiful. The trails are well marked. The park is beautiful with picnic areas and picnic tables that make it great for large groups. There were 20 of us and we pulled picnic tables together under a large shade tree for our picnic lunch. The park has a green wide open space where we played football and Frisbee with the children. Great memories.

This place has so many amazing views and dozens of places to take great pictures! My brother took my girlfriend and I here to go hiking and we enjoyed it. We joked that the river looked like licorice and could have been in a Willy Wonka movie

Such beautiful views that need to be seen to be appreciated. Loved every minute of this trip. Bring Mosquito spray! I heard the food was pretty good here.

Our first visit to Copper Falls State Park was perfectly timed last weekend to see the wonderful falls colors and waterfalls. Take the time and effort to walk the Doughboy trail that follows around the edge of the gorge crossing over the rivers on short walking bridges. The hike is nearly 2 miles to complete the loop, well worth the effort. Some up and down as you decent into the gorge and then back out.For an extra bonus, hike the path up the hill to the observation tower that overlooks the valley.

Glorious combination of fall colors, water falls, well defined walking paths, sunshine, and fresh air! What a lovely afternoon for a hike in Northern Wisconsin! As I already had a Wisconsin 2014 pass, this treat was free for me. The park is very well maintained, and it was not too busy on a week day, though there was a steady flow of visitors. There is a concession near the parking lot, and I saw folks getting ice cream treats. I ate my apple after the hike, and enjoyed the atmosphere!

The park ranger that we met when we got our parking pass was so nice and helpful I was immediately happy with our decision to stop here. It was a gorgeous fall day and for some reason we had the whole park almost to ourselves. We took the beautiful hike to see the 3 waterfalls and loved it. The observation tower was awesome too. Loved the whole park. A bargain for a 10 dollar out of state parking pass. Make sure to check out the Loon Lake beach too. Copper Falls state park is on par with many of the better state parks in Minnesota. I can't imagine a higher compliment.

This is an absolutely beautiful park. We are Wisconsin residents and stopped on our way to Bayfield. The trails to the falls are steep in a couple of places, but not overly challenging. The scenery, rushing waters and forests rival what we have seen in Glacier National Park. We picnicked in the area where the trails to the falls start. Surroundings of picnic area and rest rooms are very well kept. Make this park a must-see!

Beyond my expectations and with my handicap sign parking was very close to the walking path.Even in the drizzling rain it was awesome.

Decided to take the two hour drive north-east from Rice Lake to see the Copper Falls State Park today. We just moved to the Wisconsin area, and soon found out that the annual state park pass for residents(25$)--non-residents(35$) expires in December---fyi. Day entry was <10$, and as we didn't camp we didn't find out the price.We arrived around noon, and while the kiddos (6, 4, 2 3/4, 8 months) were using the surprisingly well maintained bathroom/showers near the north camping area, we watched the cross country meet family's trek back down the road. Only a little bit further down the road was the well maintained trailhead for a series of trails. The bathrooms are located on the southern side of the parking lot, a nic playset(built for ages 5-12, but three out of four of my kids did just fine) is slightly northeast of the bathrooms and there are plenty of really nice picnic tables scattered through the trees with some grilling stands scattered as well. Excellent place for a picnic. Others reviewed the gift shop and concession store so I will leave that. We took the doughboy trail( named after our WWI soldiers who created much of this trail/park). This loops around copper falls, brownstone falls( my favorite), and cooper falls. Little known fact, there is a section of trail that is accessible from the south side of cooper falls. Easy flat paths without steps that have been built to accommodate wheelchairs. There is a great view of the falls, something for everyone!!! We even watched a Dow and her twins along that stretch. The falls were great, my kids didn't have any problems( only carried the smallest). We have also have had so much rain this summer that my kids were astounded at the variety of fungi to see. Awesome park, hike, experience!! I bet this would be a blast to come and see in the winter s well. Not too many mosquitos, but I am also a firm believer in some 25% DEET. Have a great time!! We will be going back.

The falls were well worth their hike and while not tall in the Niagara sense, were stunning and beautiful. However, dog owners should be aware that dogs are not welcome on the trail that leads to the Falls. You can either risk getting caught by a ranger (no comment) or leave your dog at your hotel or in car (no thanks!). What a shame, as state parks that I visit all over SE Wisconsin allow dogs in most places/trails within the parks.

We came here with our 3 young children (8, 6, 6). The hike to see the waterfalls was gorgeous! It rivals any other trail we've ever seen. Beautiful woodwork and stone steps. The waterfalls were fun for the kids to see. We loved our short time spent here.
