What a great place. The amount to view is astounding. Go and visit all of these static displays. You will be very surprised. Location is great and the parking is great. If you love history and historical aircraft, this is a place you should not miss.

This museum was huge with an incredible amount of restored airplanes ranging from a Messerschmitt to a Voodoo. You can tour the restoration hanger as well. Great museum, a must see if you are in Topeka and like aircraft.

All types of air craft inside two hangers. They had a transport helicopter, the biggest helicopter I've ever seen. I found it very interesting but my husband spent three & a half hours looking at these air craft.

I just went here with my sons preschool class and they all loved it. We also try to go at least once a year as a family. There are lots of planes with steps to the cockpit, a full sized plane outside and transport helicopter inside you can go in. There are two hangers full of planes, helicopters, and other military items. Neither are heated or cooled, so beware on very cold or very hot days. There is also another small military museum with lots of vehicles-mostly jeeps and tanks outside at the entrance to the base. We usually have to go to both.

Been here as a kid several times. I was in awe each and every time. It's so fascinating so see the artifacts and all the big stuff. I can't wait to see it again real soon!

I checked online for attractions to see in Topeka, Ks. We was not disappointed. Two hangers full of aircraft, vehicles, motors, articles of clothing & much more. We spent most of the day just taking our time plus visiting with one of the volunteers who is a retired navy man. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. This is one museum you don't want to miss when stopping in Topeka.

This place is very good for war veterans and history lovers. It has excellent Aircrafts in exhibits and also we can enter in a couple of them to understand what these aircrafts are made of and what facilities do our soldiers have. We complain about space in our commercial airlines, can't imagine what these brace soldiers go through during stressful periods of wars. I loved the helicopters the most, they are big, huge and fascinating. I would recommend to take kids at such places to involve them in history and how the world has shaped up since 20th Century. Overall a good place for historians. A history lover like me can easily spend 6-7 hours watching all exhibits and reading the material available. For someone else it could be a cruise ride of 30 minutes watching all the exhibits. So this place is very subjective / relative if this topic interests you. Enjoy.

I have taken students to visit. The boys love it. There are all kinds of military memorabilia along with many aircraft. The docents are great to talk to. Watch for special activities by checking the website.

We went here with limited knowledge of the museum. I would not recommend this for people unless they have an active interest in history, especially military history. With our love of history, this made for a fantastic stop. I could have spent a lot more time here, but we had a schedule to keep. The next time we are in town, we will see this again.

The service we received at this museum was top notch!!! The exhibits were amazing! We had a personal tour guide through both hangars as well as the outside exhibits. He was very knowledgeable and continuously involved our 7 year old, 9 year old, and 15 year old kids. We learned a lot. For our family of 5 it cost $18. Well worth it!

While traveling in Topeka on business with 3 former Army aviators, we had some time one afternoon and decided to visit the Combat Air Museum. We were not disappointed!I still cannot believe the number of aircraft they were able to fit into 2 WWII hangars! They have an incredible collection of aircraft from a variety of time periods and all branches of the military. They all have placards with the model, year, military branch, usage, etc. Some of the aircraft were set up so you could walk up a flight of stairs to the cockpit and look inside. A lot of fun and VERY educational. They also had one larger AF plane on display outside, where you could walk inside and throughout the aircraft. This is a great place to visit if you have a couple of extra hours to spare.

Rainy day in Topeka so Gage Park was a washout so we went here, located at Forbes Field. walking to the entrance what impressed me was how nice the flowers were outside the Museum, someone loves gardening! 6.00 admission for adults which is quite reasonable, we had a very helpful & knowledgeable volunteer for the first part of the tour, pointing out the must dos & sees. It has a very dedicated staff. Planes are really not "my thing" but I found several things of interest. They had a very nice exhibit of women in the service (WASP's & Russian or should I say Soviet? aviators) There is also aviation art up a spiral staircase. There are 2 hangars one with already restored aircraft & another with aircraft in the process of being restored & they are doing that as you tour. The place is chock full of stuff, you weave your way around it.I liked seeing the MIGS (15, 17 & 21) & the PFALZ the skycrane was also interesting, where else would you see one? And as my companion is a Viet Nam Vet I found of interest both the Huey & Sea Stallion we could walk into that one. Everywhere you look there is something to see. They also have a POW mockup, there is plenty of interesting things to engage you.Gift shop as well buy something, it will help them in their aircraft restoration projects. I enjoyed the tour and their efforts!

I was sum what surprise to see what type of aircraft they had at that small of a museum. There was all so military uniforms, a lot of model airplanes, radios equipment, aircraft engines, along with other military equipment. The museum did a very good job of presented the people of Kansas in the military. The gift shop has a nice variety of items to look at.

We were surprised at all of the aircraft and different items that they had. It is a small museum but they have done a very good job of presented people linked to Kansas in the military. There were also many planes that we had not seen before such as a mig 15 and a skycargo helicopter. The helicopter is one of the biggest I have ever seen. The people at the museum were very nice and informative and knew a lot about the aircraft there. The POW area was small but it was very sobering but educational. They are working on different aircraft to restore them but some they plan on leaving as they are to show how they looked when they got done being in the war.

There are two hangars belonging to this museum. They both display aircraft, as well as military uniforms, model airplanes, radios, aircraft engines, and other military equipment. There is a flight simulator as well in the main building. There is a nice variety of items in the gift shop. Anyone who loves aircraft will enjoy a visit here.
