When we stopped at Grace Hill, the proprietors were busy with other customers, that they clearly knew personally. My gf and I were barely greeted and no interaction occurred until checkout. Wines are pretty darned good though. Very small retail area, hard to move about. If in the area, stop by, but don't make a special trip to the winery. Most of their bottles are carried by local liquor stores.

drink wine while sitting on the rooftop and watch the chickens chase grasshoppers through the little vineyard on a sunny afternoon. this is a refreshingly unusual place for the area, i would probably rate it very good even if the wine was terrible, it's not. don't go here even remotely expecting sonoma valley(of course you're going to be utterly "disappointed" sunny67147), it's pure KANSAS and much more entertaining than watching the crops grow. byo snacks, gold fish and apples pair well:)

Wineries are pretty much all the same in my opinion. But the cool thing about this winery is that it gives volunteers the opportunity to help with the harvest in exchange for lunch and wine afterward. My husband and I visited on one of these harvest days, but sadly arrived in the afternoon, missing the morning harvest. Volunteer harvest days are Saturday mornings mid Aug. - Sept., FYI.We were visiting Wichita on business and decided to take the 30 minutes drive to Grace Hill. The winery is small with about 8 acres of vines with one building serving as processing, storage and wine tasting/gift shop. One of the owners gave us a quick tour of the operation that included examining the grapes on the vine, patio/event space, processing room, and oak barreled storage cellar. Afterward we sampled some of the wines in the tasting room, which was very crowded on a Saturday afternoon. They offer average reds, whites and sweet varietals with cool names/labels. Gift shop is small but stocked with lots of wine toys and accompaniments. You can bring a picnic, deck of cards or just sit on patio and drink your purchase while enjoying the scenery. Or, if you are traveling, GHW will ship your purchases home. (Some states don't allow this.) I'd have to say, this was worth the drive, interesting, educational and refreshing to learn of their volunteer harvest. Thanks Grace Hill Winery for adding to our Kansas experience.

Grace Hill Winery, located north of Wichita in Whitewater, KS, produces high quality wines - both the traditional Midwestern sweet varieties as well as wonderful dry reds that would rival many California wines in a blind tasting. GHW owners host sell-out events throughout the year which include Fall/Spring Release Parties, Food/Wine Pairings, weekly Wine Tastings, and fun holiday and harvest events. Private events can also be scheduled at the winery and in the vineyards.

Nothing special about this winery or worth the trip. Disappointed in the wine tasting & was worse when we brought it home.

A bit of France in the middle of Kansas! These folks have done a great job starting a vineyard and giving folks in the Wichita area a place for wine sipping while overlooking the vineyard. A nice start and sure to get better.

Enjoyed visiting the winery. Nice venue and courteous/knowlegable staff. Wine we bought tasted better at the winery than at home, how does that happen?! Great pizza place in town. Would return and give it another chance. Enjoyable road trip from Wichita!

Great wines available for tasting, very informative tour and not the usual variety of grapes in the vineyard. Just a few miles off I-35 so it is no trouble to get to and well worth stopping in!They also just completed a great function room that's perfect for wedding receptions etc and offers up a GREAT view of the vineyards.(Editing note: Since when did TripAdvisor stop offering the option of Spouse for answering the question "Who did you go with?")

My husband and I visited for a Build Your Own Wine day. The owners of the vineyard Dr & Dr Sollo and their son are wonderful teachers. They gave us three varieties of red and three of white grape varieties. They explained how to mix a glass of wine that we enjoyed. We wrote down the formula and they created a special bottle of our own personal blend. We also were able to wonder around the vineyard a bit. It is a very lovely place. Their wines are superb. I enjoy sweet wines so Prairie Pink and Chole's Cuvee are my favorites.I actually first met then when they catered in the wine for our Wichita Women Attorneys Association wine tasting. They did a fabulous job describing their wines and teaching all of the attendees. I would certainly recommend Grace Hill for wine tastings also.
