When the museum volunteer staff has the time, money or expertise to arrange the tons of material they have the results are wonderful. It become a real peek into days gone by, witness the soda shop. When they don't ....it reminded me of your great aunt's attic. Things are piled on top of things and then piled on top of more things. There are over 20,00 items in this three story, converted early 20th century hospital. They range from the mundane (a trumpet, with no context as to why it is there) to a take your breath away 1904 auto, brilliantly restored. We spent well over 2 hours there and could have spent 2 more. Since the museum is staffed by one person, call ahead to make sure they are open. On our first attempt to visit, no volunteer was there and the place was closed. And generously donate they deserve it.

The Museum is packed with memorabilia from another time. Our son spent the entire afternoon there and only got through one room. We took some at-risk students there and they were impressed with the explanations of what some things were and how they were used.

Wellington we also went to the Chisholm Trail Museum: A museum of Domestic life. It had over 40 rooms with wonderful, informative & interesting things. The building has 3 stories & used to be a hospital.It's called a "Museum of Domestic Life" but includes so much more. A treasure of a museum in a small town with friendly people.
