Everything you need for discovering the area. Road maps, hiking maps, lodging information, dining information; it's all here with the friendly staff. Also a short film to view.

You can find info here that covers the entire area of northeast Kansas. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. The place can also be reserved for small gatherings such as receptions and celebrations. It is located in an old RR station that has been redone and is a very beautiful building. There is also a statue by local sculpture Jim Brothers in the drive that depicts the town rising from the ashes after it was burned during the days leading up to the Civil War.

Staff can answer any and all questions about what to do and see in Lawrence. A vast collection of maps, brochures, fact sheets, etc. Be cool, go to school on Kansas and start your education here.

This refurbished train depot, which was saved from demolition, is the perfect setting for the Lawrence Visitors Center. Lots of information about the city and region and friendly people who will make sure you find the info you are searching for. Bonus that train memorabilia is on display and that real trains pass by!

A beautifully restored historic train depot on lovely landscaped grounds and decorated by a wonderful flower garden and fountain. As picturesque as this setting is and as meticulously maintained the grounds are we were disappointed to see the lovely memorial for the fallen soldiers of Douglas County completely covered with cobwebs and cotton from nearby trees. The Jayhawk on parade near the entrance to the Visitors Center was also covered with cobwebs and it just seemed odd as well maintained as everything else in the area was that these crucial and prominent features were so neglected. Particularly the Veterans Memorial, something that should be respected and better maintained.Once inside the building we were greeted by friendly staff that made themselves available to us should we have any questions. There is a display case featuring the history of the Train Depot and a treasure trove of information on things to do whether it be outdoor, recreation, entertainment, shopping, or dining not only for Lawrence but also for the surrounding areas. We've lived in Lawrence for two years now and came home with handfuls of information for new things for us to explore and discover. This is a must stop for anyone planning to spend some time in the area.

Before stopping by our hotel, The Best Western Lawrence, we stopped by the visitor's center. It's located at the Old Train Depot and hold some serious history to it. The flower garden and trees in front of the facility are beautiful and smell exquisite. The personnel working at the center were very helpful with all that was around Lawrence. Thank you VERY much for your assistance.

Located in North Lawrence, we stopped by the Center when we were first starting to look for a home in Lawrence, and picked up a wealth of free info. They also have space to rent out for groups and receptions.

The Lawrence Visitor Center is housed in the restored Union Pacific Railroad depot, which is adjacent to a very active line. A tribute to the restoration effort is the fact that you can visit with the visitor center volunteers while the trains are whizzing by only 30 feet away and not have a bit of trouble with your conversation. The volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful We take all of our visitors to the depot because it has an abundance of information they can pick up and take home with them after they place a pin on the map indicating their home town.

I visited the Lawrence Visitors Center at the historic Union Pacific railroad Depot this weekend and was impressed with all the information that was available on the history of Lawrence and Kansas. The visitors center is run by the Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau who have published 6 self guided tour brochures, including one on Quantrill's Raid of 1863. I am interested in the Bleeding Kansas and Civil War period and the stop at the visitors center was very illuminating. They also have a 25 minute film on the early history of Lawrence which I watched and liked. All of this information and the film were free of charge, which is hard to find nowadays. There was also a ton of free information available on the sights and attractions in the area and state. I also picked up a state map of Kansas and a nice historic map of the area included in the Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area which Lawrence is the headquarters of. The visitors center is in a Victorian era railroad depot that has been restored and reopened in 1996. It is a beautiful building and sits right next to 2 active railroad tracks. So if you are a train watcher this is a great place to watch the trains go by. The staff and volunteers were friendly and ready to answer any questions I had. If you are in Lawrence or are passing by on I-70, stop by, you will be happy you did!

This is the old train station in North Lawrence. It has been renovated and acts as Lawrence Visitor Center as well as a place to host parties or functions. It is beautiful.

A great place to stop for information on Lawrence's colorful history. Self-guided tour maps are available for sites pertinent to Quantrill's raid. The center is located in an interesting old train station.

Es un lugar con exhibiciones muy completas sobre la historia de Lawrence, los fundadores, la industria, etc. Sin duda una experiencia muy cultural y agradable.
