Museum is small yet has many interesting facts about Goodland. Has one of the first helicopters ever built. They have phones outside some of there displays that did not work so that was disappointing. Overall the walk through was nice great for school outing age children.

Not much to this tiny museum, but it's worth a visit only if you're staying in town, and by the looks of things there's not much else going on in Goodland, so why not check it out...several old cars and buggies in perfect condition.

Dust bowl history is quite interesting. Two thumbs up on stageing. Curator seems knowledgeable. History of town is interesting.

You will probably be done in 15-30 minutes. Glad it was free. Goodland stuff. Not much at gift counter.

It was very interesting, old baseball uniforms, stereo, helicopter. No admission fee but donations accepted.

We stopped at the High Plains Museum mostly to get some quick information on places to eat (as well as use the restroom) and came back to go through the entire Museum. The helocopter is fun! The curator is super knowledgeable and a good listener. We probably stayed for about an hour and learned quite a bit about Goodland and the area.

We were not specifically looking to visit this place. But it was a good find. The entry fee was either non-existent, very low or by donation. I forget which. Whatever way, just drop in and have a look. For a small museum, it offers enough to interest young and old. The exhibits feature sound, movement and interactivity. Including moving the parts of the first helicopter. That was a lot of fun for me.

This little museum featured a quilt show which was a delightful surprise to my mom and me. It was our first stop on on weekend getaway to Goodland, and we are so glad we went here first. The museum itself is small and will only take about an hour or less to see. The helicopter replica is a highlight, as well as learning some interesting history about the town and county, and its people. But, after seeing the museum we had lots of ideas for other things to see and do in the area. Make sure to get a driving tour brochure for the Arikaree Breaks and go see them, they are so worth it! The gift shop has a few local items, and the postcards are just 25 cents. By the way, the musuem is free. A $3 suggested donation can be given at the entrance.

Exceeded our expectations! The replica of the first helicopter, and the reproductions of the mud hut and beauty shop were our favorite displays. There was even a little gift shop and a helpful museum worker. Call 785-890-4595 for hours.
