Very lovely, quaint village. Great bookstore, wonderful, little shop. Great excursion for the day, or worth a drive to stay for a few hours...

There a number of interesting shops to peruse in Fearrington Village, from books, to wine, to household items, and clothes. Just walking around the village and sitting outside near the Fearrington House gardens can be an enjoyable day. A very good lunch can be had at the Belted Goat or the Granary, and one of the best restaurants in North Carolina is located next to the village at Fearrington House. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful countryside with nice walking paths. Loved seeing the Belted Galloway cows that look like Oreo cookies. Way too boozhee for me tho. The inn is $500 a night for a standard room. No way! I don't care what the amenities are. The folks that live here are not very friendly either. Had a nice visit but would have no reason to return.

I love taking visitors to Fearrington Village. I wouldn't recommend it as a day trip with the kids but as a relaxing day with your significant other or a day with your girlfriends it is perfect. The spa cod not be more relaxing, the lovely gift shops offer unusual crafts and gifts including local organic delicacies. The Goat is the perfect little lunch spot with by far the best soups around. Walk over and see the belted cows, they have a thick white stripe down their middle that resembles a corset! Walk over to the bookstore and spend an hour perusing the incredible collection. There is a beautiful hotel with great service on the premises so if you would like to make a romantic weekend of it, I would highly suggest it. Moments from Chapel Hill, this place is a real gem.

There are so many things to like about visiting here. There's a 5 star Relais et Chateau inn to stay in, with restaurant to match, and two more eating places of quality to have a very good meal, a snack, coffee or glass of wine. There's an outstanding independent book store with several weekly author events and an ambience that will keep you there for hours. The Dove Cote shop is as pleasurable as an art gallery, it has so many beautiful clothes and home goods. Not to mention the full service spa. The village itself is surrounded by open pastures with well fed, bred and cared for black & white cows and goats. Spring thru fall there's live acoustic music and local beers served up outside the Roost and on Tuesday afternoons a farmer's market. A lovely place to visit -- or to live.

This village has more to offer than just great shops, incredible food and beauty. This is a community of kind people and talented artists.

The Fearrington cows and goats are pretty cool in and among themselves. Black and white banded animals are very distinctive and you're able to see them in a couple of different areas around the village. Also has a couple of little stores and restaurants (seemed fairly pricey and exclusive from the menus and furnishings although we didn't actually eat in any of them). Was nice and relaxing to walk around the village. There's a garden area in the middle with a lake and it's quite well set up for walking/lounging around. It's truly a beautiful little hidden gem along the highway.

Overpriced "retirement" village with homes, townhomes, etc and small center village. Inn at center wants upwards of $350 a night for stay!!! Restaurant overpriced as well.

A very quaint and upscale venue. Lots of nice shops and wonderful restaurant. They did a fabulous job on our friend's daughter's wedding. Stop and dine here when near Chapel Hill and consider staying. We did not see the rooms but those who did stay there said very nice things about them.

seems slightly elitist, but very pleasant. The bookstore is a gem, and the gardens are extremely lovely to walk thru. However, if you have issues with paying $5 for a hotdog, you will probably not enjoy the quickie dining options, although the Fearrington Restaurant is supposed to be another story..quite well known for delicious meals and special occasions.

Wouldn't make a special trip to go to Fearrington, but if you are in the area, good place to stop in and have a meal or stop in the bookstore.

If you've got some money and you're thinking of retiring to a quiet, upscale community with treed lots, and a tiny 'shopping' area with a decent, if overpriced restaurant, this is worth a look. The houses are generally older, as are most of the residents, and though there is no gate, Fearrington has the feel of a gated community. It tries very hard to be upscale, but ends up feeling pretentious. As with many retirement communities, Fearrington feels cut off from the rest of the world, and thisone feels as though it's turned it's back on that world, as well. As another reviewer stated, perhaps with more to do, it would be worth visiting again, but I doubt that will happen, as the residents seem to like it that way.

There is not much there and what is, you are not made to feel overly welcome. The male clerk at the shop where we were looking at the Oprah's favorite candles, followed us like we were shoplifters. Yes, we were in clean jeans and sweatshirts, but I am sixty and do not have a criminal record. We did have a very nice sandwich at The Goat Restaurant and followed it up with some tasty ice cream. The people at The Goat seemed to like us and did not make us feel unwanted.

This is such an unexpected gem to visit! It's gorgeous, has cute beltie cows, and AWESOME bookstore, and a great cafe for snacks, coffee, and ice cream! Love visiting here with my family!

Very pretty, just wish there was more to it! There is a bookstore, restaurant, lovely boutique store, hair dressers, spa and a gorgeous inn. It would be worth visiting more often if there was more to do.
