All I can say is that this bridge is Absolutely Beautiful. Everyone should visit this at least one time in season and one time during Christmas...Beautiful
This is the most beautiful bridge I have been to the flowering bridge all four seasons it is a place you will remember in the summer the blooms are so full and beautiful. the spring everything is budding out and coming to life .The fall and winter grab a cup of hot chocolate or a cup of hot cider and take a walk on one of the trails and around the lake and enjoy heavens beauty that God has provided for us and sit on the bench around the lake and share the piece and quiet .I visit all four seasons to see the beauty.
The garden was very well laid out and lovingly cared for. It was nice that most of the plantings had some form of labeling so we would know what each plant is. This is a nice use of an old bridge over the river.
Given the time of the year, you can't expect a stellar display in January.. But I bet it looks great during the flowering seasons.
Always changing!! Beautiful use of and beautiful old bridge!!! I enjoyed the whimsical theme of the fairy gardens!
Find this along side the new bridge in Village of Lake Lure. In the winter they have installed magical fairy gardens and Christmas displays to make up for the lack of flowers. They have created a lovely series of gardens to inspire all who stop.
This is what Lake Lure and Chimney Rock are all about.....time to slow down and enjoy nature. beautiful things to look at cannot be seen from just driving by, so park and walk in leisurely. This is free, fun, a great photo op, and for all ages. Local resident volunteers donated time, effort, and decorations to the bridge area, and a small donation box is there which is a good idea in order to help maintain this for every season.
It's not hard to miss this little slice of flowering heaven 'between' Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. We visited in mid October, and I was amazed at how much was still blooming. There were close to a dozen volunteers on the grounds - planting, sprucing up, tending the beds, and chatting with visitors.Recommend for a pleasant stroll, and if you're a shutterbug, don't forget your camera!
I've been to Lake Lure hundreds of times, but this was my first visit to the Flowering Bridge. My mom took my daughter to it, and my daughter loved it so much she wanted to go again with her younger sister and me when we came to pick her up. I'm so glad we went! There were beautiful flowers blooming, and very humorously painted pumpkins throughout the walk. My daughters enjoyed smelling the flowers, looking at the pumpkins, and playing in the small grassy area at the end of the bridge. It was a great day to visit the bridge, and there were lots of others visiting as well. It was well traveled, but not crowded. It was enjoyable.
Well worth a visit if you are in the Lake Lure area. For the Fall/Halloween, there were special decorated displays. I am sure that at any time of the year it is a great place to visit. No fee but donations are accepted. The displays are handicapped accessible.
This place was cute. Nice photo ops. Cool for a quick stop if you are between other activities. It probably only took a maximum of 30 minutes to walk through.
The thought and care that goes into this unique garden inspires the imagination in every age group. It changes with the seasons in color and design..gorgeous!
The main bridge over one end of the lake was rebuilt and modernized, but instead of tearing down the old but lovely stone bridge, the town closed it off and now it is a beautiful community-maintained flower garden. We visited late in the fall so many of the plants were past their peak bloom, but the garden keepers were planting pansies and maintaining the perennials the day we were there. The garden includes whimsical old chairs that are transformed into planters, and amusing scarecrow characters composed of pumpkins and squash with painted faces and wearing old clothes and costume jewelry. It was fun to walk through the garden on a sunny fall day.
What a beautiful place this is and so wonderful of the people that keep it going. You have to stop and take a look at it!
If you are in area this is a nice community project to walk though, I was here last year and I have to say it was much nicer than, but the flowers are nice and it can be a peaceful walk. It is a bridge that is covered in different types of flowers, herbs and artistic works.
