Campground was nice and quiet and the Park Ranger Lady was super cool. All Rangers were nice. If you decide to camp, be warned, we had a family of raccoon's that I think would have no problem coming into our RV, they were not shy at all. Kinda neat to watch. Beach was awesome, no trash or junk anywhere. If I had a gripe, It would be the campground store. Although very nice if you don't need to buy any type of food, NO FOOD. So if you camp make sure you bring in all the supplies you will need while there.Would visit again !!!
With the bathrooms and showers, its perfect for small children! No sandy wet kids piling in the car.
This is the classiest state park we've booked in several years --- paved roads, new boardwalks to the beach, large private level sites, office has ice, beverages, souvenirs, etc. Better make your reservations early for this one!
Did not see the Alligator's this time, but they are there.Lots of birds Love to hear the sound of the Ocean.Still a little chilly for a long walk, but won't be much longer. Can't wait. Not to many camping right now, but soon it will be over flowing.Bring your bike and go for a ride..
Breathtaking!!!!!!! The views are great, its peaceful. Attalayah is loaded with history. We got married on the beach there. Even though we live in surfside, its our Go To place.
A lot of stuff to do here. I got the Palmetto Pass for state parks so admission was very cheap. A great parking area with clean bath houses and a great store for snacks and drinks. The beach is pristine and un-crowded. As soon as you get tired of the beach you can check out the marsh walks or the marsh exhibit building where for free you can pet stingrays, horseshoe crabs and sea other native species close up. Then you can walk out on the decks and watch the crabs actualy traverse the marsh as well as larger schools of mullet and some larger fish, which was very cool. If your thereon the right day you may get to see a alligator or two like my family did. YOUr adventure does not stop there though. You can tour the Huntington home which looks like a old fort with lost of rooms as well as a huge court room in the middle. That day they were having a wedding in the courtyard and it was beautiful.
My husband and I spent 1 night at this over priced non handicap friendly park. The ladies camping bathhouse is not set up for handicap use. The showers are to small for walkers or wheel chairs. I use a cane and I had a very difficult time trying to use the facilities. We will not return to this park.
Visiting during the winter, we didn't see much wildlife, although there is an eagle's nest at one end of the causeway. I can only imagine how much there is to see in warmer weather
So during this time of the year there are very few people on this beach so it makes for a great walk. The entrance fee is cheap and the parking is plentiful. It was nice to be able to get out and enjoy the beach and have it almost to myself. The area is very clean and well kept and is teaming with nature. There is a wetland area that has several observation platforms for you to walk out on if you are interested in bird watching. I was there when it was cloudy and raining but it didn't dampen how much I enjoyed my visit. I would love to go back when it is a bit warmer and sunnier and sit back and watch the wonderful variety of birds that visit to the area. If you are looking for a cheap and great way to spend a day in Myrtle Beach this is a great place to start. I would for sure go back.
Wonderful staff! Told man at gate we had never been, he gave us a fabulous, thorough and enthusiastic overview:) Enjoyed the beautiful clean sandy beach, then went to the Nature Centre, where they had fantastic displays, including a baby alligator, seahorses, and other displays of local animals and sealife, and ecology. Staff here were also very knowledgeable and friendly. We will be returning again soon to spend more time on the beach and to walk to boardwalk; there is an alligator pond that would be fabulous if it were not so cold right now. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
I enjoyed walking around the castle. There are two giant adirondak chairs just like my hiking area in Jersey and the trails were so much like home. The people in the visitors center were VERY helpful identifying the white birds we saw which were white pelicans. We went on the boardwalk over the bay and saw bald eagles and their nest. I loved it there
We have camped at Huntington Beach State Park for the last two years and it a super place to visit often. The nature trail offer great views of the marsh and aquatic waterfowl. The beach is pristine. And the biking in the area is good.
After September you can be the only one on this 2 mil. Beach almost every day.$8.00 a day per car $65.00 for a one year pass.
Easy access, handicapped friendly, friendly staff, lots of wildlife. Great beach. Nature/walking trails.Historic home(low entrance fee) adds to visit.
I go to this beach 3-5 days a week from May to October. It has very clean facilities and a good-sized parking lot. Also a nice picnic area. The marsh is great for bird watching and you may see a gator or two. Lots of nature talks and tours with the park rangers.
