A delightful place to relax for a couple hours. There are the upper falls, middle falls and lower falls. Lots of shade along the way as you stroll the trail. Will be going back for sure.
Definitely go find this little gem! We were there at low flow and the falls were still stunning. Going back in the spring, hopefully. Wear comfy shoes and hike the interpretive trail for sure.
A nice place to walk and take pictures. I would reccomend it for running, but if you just want to relax and enjoy a little nature go for it. Go have dinner at Falls Terrace first and then walk it off.
The falls are incredibly powerful and beautiful. Peaceful walk or hike and a good place for a picnic almost year round. Spend a little time here and the world goes away, even though it's right under the freeway.
This is a great place to spend an afternoon. The falls and the park are beautiful and the trail is well kept. There's a ton of local history as well.
While the falls are not very big, the path by the river was very nice with some pretty views. A brief stop, but well worth it. By the way, the Olympia brewery (which is right next to the park) is shut down - so no tours... Olympia is owned / brewed by Miller now.
Quiet space with background noises that relieved some of the tensions of traffic and shopping. Kids run free to explore so many things in nature.
This park of rushing waters, native trees and some introduced garden trees, goes through seasonal changes making it a beautiful experience any time of year. In the springtime, in the park above the river, there is a spectacular display of rhododendrons. In the winter, the rains and snow-melt create a great drama of flooding waters. Autumn is a time of brilliant colors, and in summer, it is a place of mists and shadows.Besides the loveliness of woods and garden trails, there is history here, where the American settlement of the lands north of the Columbia began: the first mill was built here, and there are the fascinating old concrete fish-ladders with the Deschutes River still rushing through them. More recent is the old brewery building where Oly Beer was made--(It's the water... and maybe its the Artesians!) (I seen 'em!)
We walked all along the river and were able to see some Salmon that were making their way upstream which was pretty amazing. Too bad the old Olympia brewery is just sitting there vacant.
This is a real gem in the middle of the city of Tumwater. This area used to be the heart of the water-powered industry in the earliest settlement in WA. There are remnants of the foundations of many buildings here plus the remains of the earliest Olympia beer brewery which used the power produced by nearby water powered electrical generating plants. The trail winds down both sides of the river with several falls and cascades to see. Very Pleasant for a Short Visit!!
The falls are beautiful any time of year. You can see the salmon when they are running. Very peaceful and good picture taking.
Remember the venerable Olympia Beer's motto," It's the Water?" Well, you can see the actual falls centered in that well known logo -- in all its glory -- at Tumwater Falls Park in Tumwater, WA. Actually, "the water" was really artesian wells tapped into by the Olympia Beer brewers. Still, the lovely falls are a recognizable symbol of pure, clean water and deserve a visit. The park is located just under the now abandoned Olympia Brewery. The falls reflect the character of the seasons, from roaring and wild in the spring, to serene and lovely in the summer. The Parks department maintains a loop trail that lets visitors see a working salmon fish hatchery of the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife; as well as vantages of the upper and lower falls from various viewing areas. The Falls Terrace Restaurant is located on the bluff above the falls and is a perfect place for a drink of fine dinner. You certainly can't beat the view! Don't miss this jewel of the Olympia area. It's a real gem.
Tumwater Falls Park is small, but it is nice to walk the trails on both sides of the river and over the middle falls. I have been coming here since I was a child. When the salmon run, the fish ladder is a joy. In the summer they have a small, but nice, fuchsia garden by the restrooms.
This place is small but great for a walk next to the little river and the pretty water falls, the bridges and nature make this place a perfect place to hang out, alone, with kids, with a love one, for a pic nic, I found it very nice during the summer months that we visited, I don't know if during the rainy months it would be muggy to walk on, but for dry summers, the breeze of the waterfalls make it such a pleasant place, the trail to walk is not difficult either. =)
Take a picnic lunch and then take a walk around the area of the falls when you are in Tumwater. Enjoy the birds singing and the warm sun on your face as you take in the falls.
