My family has camped here several times and will go back. The campground is on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Mayfield where you can swim, boat, fish, etc. The sites are roomy and clean and private, lots of trees. There is a walking trail that goes around the entire peninsula and only takes about 30 minutes. Most sites have easy access to both the lake and the bathrooms.
Been going here every year for family reunion!! Love the lake and day use area...camp sites could be better thought out...fire pits not necessarily in optimum location...but we'll continue to make the best of it!!! Now there are cabins and we'll see how tough it is to land one for next year!! Great walking trails!! Not much for biking but we bring ours and go around the campsites.
Situated on Lake Mayfield created by the Maysfield dam, the Ike Kinswa State Park offers huge private, fully serviced lots. Most remarkable is the forest where the sites are located. One can imagine being in a Jurassic Park primordial forest with moss drapings, giant ferns and thick undergrowth. Swimming in clear, clean Lake Mayfield or the Tilton River is possible. The washroom/shower facility is adequate. By far the FOREST is the most distinguishing factor of this RV and tent campground for me. I noted that many others were boating and fishing, but I enjoyed walking amongst the trees, and having the peace and dark of the evenings. I would have enjoyed some interpretative information about the name of the park, the flora and fauna.
This is a terrific camping area with three loops; two with hookups and one primitive. Because our trip was "last minute" (actually scheduled about 3 weeks in advance) we were lucky to find a spot in this very popular park. The park is well maintained and most of the sites have easy access to the lake. We learned that this park is open year round, I think we'll return sometime later in the year and rent one of the cabins they have available.
This state park provides large campsites, especially the lower section off the lake. Many sites have a great view of the lake or easy access. Our site was heavily covered by trees, included a picnic table and fire-pit. We were not able to get any DirecTV satellite signal. Our Verizon signal was very weak. Surprisingly our site was level. We utilized this campground to sightsee some locations in southern Washington. Freeway access and grocery shops are about 30 minutes away. Rangers were friendly and helpful.
I went to Ike Kinswa state park over the summer. The park has a tiny boat launch, lots of trees, trails, nice beach and a huge lake. The sites are large enough for us to fit our 21 ft. boat along with our friend's RV. I highly recommend this park!
We found this campground on the state site and it was the only one that had an opening on Labor Day weekend, two weeks prior to the weekend. We were very pleased and pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We stayed in the full hook up spaces and actually landed in the best spot. It was quiet, with easy access to the trails. We walked all the trails each day and walked through all the campgrounds to see how impressive the place was. We can't wait to go back. The yurt area overlooks the river and seem to have an amazing view - may book those at a later time with a group!
Ike Kinswa is a very nice State Park campground that is well cared for and clean. Great trout fishing and there are a number of short hikes in the area. Boat launch, trailer dump station, and clean restrooms with showers( dont forget to buy shower tokens when you check in.
We stumbled on this great little state park while looking for some quiet place near Seattle. It was very easy to find and the site we selected was great for our 32 foot Motor Home. Lot of tree and therefor shade, easy access to the water for fishing or viewing, and a nice little 1.5 mile path to hike at the waters edge. We did not use the restrooms but were told they were clean but dated and could use a little love. Most site in the "hook up" area are are either back in or pull-through. We noted that many of the back in were narrow, had adequate space for a tent and were relatively private. The pull-through sites would be fine for a trailer but not all will accommodate an RV over 30 feet due to tight maneuverability issues. Many sites have low hanging branches so a quick survey before you park is suggested. This camp ground attracts all age groups and there is plenty of room for kids, and just enough solitude for adults. The boat launch is close by and there are lost of spots to get your feet wet. There is also a designate swim area with calm waters. The state maintained web site for this camp ground is very good and will provide you with details about every site.We recommend this park for all type of campers - tent, trailer, Motor Home, and we have put this park on our "return to" list.
Nice big park. Great for swimming & spending time with family. It has nice restrooms with changing area's. They rent paddle boats. Nice beach area. It has picnic tables. It cost to get in if you do not have a discovery pass.
Recently camped at Ike Kinswa State Park. Easy and inexpensive to make online reservations thru the Wa State Parks website. You can view actual pictures of the specific camp spot you pick.It is a very forested gampground, so most of the spots offer good privacy. The low numbers 1-38 are located close to Mayfield lake. A few spots are right on the shore of the lake (#16, 18 are some) and have a trail from your campsite to the lake. There are also common trails to the lake.Spots have 30 amp electrical, a water connection a picnic table, a fire pit , and most have a sewer dump. There is a swimming area across the street. Firewood is sold by the ranger station- $5 per bundle. The restrooms are very clean, and have token operated showers too.
