Agreed Susan must have been there at a bad time. I have been going to the park for years and it has always been clean and tidy. Easy walk to town, great for out large group.
This warm lake (in the summer) is simply wonderful for families and for those who are not strong swimmers. The lake is very shallow for a long distance and so a small child can go far without fear of not touching bottom. The small concession stand is a plus, and with plenty of picnic tables and clean restrooms, this a great place to spend time on a hot day.
Susan S wrote a bad review of this park and it probably was behind in its cleaning schedule then as this is the busiest time of year to come (July) and it is hard to keep up with hundreds of messy campers and picnickers. We are here in September and it is immaculate, well watered and green, no garbage in site, restrooms are in good shape, both the toilets and the separate showers. Beaches are clean, but the swimming floats have been brought in and it is only the 5th of September and 90 degrees today. If your kids go swimming, they will not have the protection of the barrier from boats. Watch for that. Anyway we are having a quiet, restful couple of days here and thoroughly enjoying it.
This used to be a state park and they gave it to the city of Oroville. It is only a few blocks from downtown. There are boat lauches, swimming, picnicing and camping. Alcohol is not prohibited, but it was quiet in the park. We went there to escape the August heat. There are barbeques. We roasted chicken for dinner.
Just arrived home 2014-07-01 after spending 5 days at Lake Osoyoos Veterans Park. Let me just start out by saying that we have been going to this park for the past 10+ years and have always been very satisfied overall. I would have given this a 5-star rating had it not been for the despicable state of the showers and washroom facilities. I'm not certain where the problem lies, if it is merely lack of summer help but, in the past, there has always been someone at the shower house in the morning and late evening to ensure cleanliness. After being there for 3 days and the same garbage was sitting in one of the shower stalls, in addition to an inordinate amount of hair lost on the shower floor, I felt compelled to point it out at the office. That evening, it was clear that someone had cleaned the stalls but still nothing like the standard to which we have become accustomed to here at this great location! A mop and some Pine Sol would go a long way along with hosing out the stalls every day. In addition to this, the sanitary napkin garbage disposal in one of the bathroom stalls looked as though it hadn't been emptied in DAYS ... this was truly DISGUSTING! I sincerely hope that they are able to improve their practices by our next visit or we may consider going elsewhere.
Lake Osoyoos Veterans Park is located on the south shores of one of the most beautiful international lakes that you will ever find. Great RV and camp sites; safe swimming area for the kids.
Has a lot of parking and a swimming area. Nice restroom facilities. Good shaded areas. Nice and relaxing place to go
If you are passing through please do not miss.. absolutely beautiful. When we were there on a lovely sunny autumn October day it looked lovely maybe not so nice in the rain.. we were lucky.. thank you Osoyoos!
This is a great pace to stroll through the trees, along the lake and take in nature at its finest. Why not take a picnic lunch? I will do that next time. Kids will love it as well.
There is something going on all summer long. It's fun to go there and swim, picnic or just walk. the fireworks show is the best around.
A great recreation center in Oroville, WA. Within walking distance of a major store and other restaurants and service.
Not a state park any more - the state has it back to the city. Still a great park. The city is working hard to make it a destination. It could use some more utility connections.
