We didn't get close to this dam because it's ONLY open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We drove 25 miles round trip for nothing. This was after the security guard at a nearby dam, Box Canyon, told us all about it, and gave us directions there. Oh well, live and learn. It did have a nice picnic area.
While very "out of the way" visiting Boundary Dam and the Boundary Project is a fun way to spend some time in northeastern Washington state.Boundary Dam is a concrete arch gravity-type hydroelectric dam on the Pend Oreille River. The dam is located in the northeast corner of Washington state, just south of the border with British Columbia, Canada. (Wikipedia)Tours are short and friendly. Make sure to bring a government issued ID to get access to the facility. If you have time there is a nice campground with access to the lake formed by the dam.Don't miss Crawford State Park and the Gardner Cave just up the road from the Boundary Dam.Details on tours are here: http://www.seattle.gov/light/tours/boundary/
