A long pier with excellent views. Free! Not much to see, just enjoy the open space. We froze because it was cold and rainy in California at this particular time. Must be much more enjoyable in good weather.
We visited San Clemente Pier twice on our recent vacation to California. This was the first place we went to before checking into our hotel. We ate lunch in the more casual of the restaurants. The restaurant is directly on the pier and has glass panels up to block the wind gusts. The food was excellent as was the service we received. They did not try to rush us out and we were able to enjoy the beautiful view. The second time we visited I hung out on the beach while my boyfriend did some fishing. He did not catch any fish but got some great video of a shark swimming near the end of the pier!
Mostly just for gazing over the edge, there's one little souvenir shop (that was closed on Valentine's Day even though it was 80 degrees outside). One set of bathrooms in the middle and a restaurant on each side at the beginning of the pier.
Take a trip back in time and cruise into San Clemente and spend some time at the bottom of Avenida del Mar at the San Clemente pier. It's family and dog friendly with a great restaurant called Fisherman's. Be careful crossing the railway tracks. You're in for a treat.
I went to the pier with my 6 year old daughter. We loved walking the pier and the beach and there are swings on the beach! It was a nice, relaxing area
Wonderful way to spend an evening walking out on the pier or having a drink at the restaurant there. Gorgeous, clean and fun
Best location at San Clemente Pier Fresh seafood the best and menu excellent service is very good indoor and outdoor seating available. We took a walk on the pier while we waited for our table worth the wait!
Such a beautiful pier and so many people surfing and fishing. Such a nice view of the ocean. Very relaxing.
The long pier in San Clemente juts out into the Pacific Ocean. We enjoyed walking through the wooded planks of the pier. The surfers can be seen below while they swim through the cool waters of the sea awaiting for the next big wave to come in so they can ride it. Through the walk, the doves are busily alighting on your path to see whether you left a bread crumb or two. The sea gulls vie for your attention as they glide through the air searching for the fish catch of the day. Should you get hungry you can just sit down for coffee or have a snack at the coffee house at the entrance of the long pier. What a great day in San Clemente Pier.
What is not to like, we had a great Lunch at Nicks, Then We Had A beautiful Walk on This Pier, Great To be near the Water and hear The Waves, Such a relaxing way to spend the Afternoon, Love this Place!!
We planned to spend the night in San Clemente... and went to the beach in the evening just to occupy time. We took a walk out on the Pier during sunset... and experienced a beautiful event as the settign sun's colors washed back on the shore, beach, palm trees... We are coming back, just for the Beach.
As a young Marine, I spent many weekend days or nights visiting the San Clemente Pier. 15 years later, it was nice to take my teen and preteen kids and wife for a stroll down the pier. During a hectic, full-scheduled Christmas trip to L.A., we decided to visit San Clemente and the hour or so we spent on the pier was a great way to just unwind and forget the fast pace just a mile or two inland. The view is great with a nice view of Dana Point to the north.
Great place to wander, hangout, enjoy an afternoon or evening. Sunset view is great or watch for occasional music shows too. Parking is usually available except for event times then plan on a walk. Don't miss checking out the remodeled Beachcomber for a future overnight stay too.
Everyone loves the pier if you can find a place to park.It is a wonderful place to watch the sunset and watch the whales go by and watching the surfers and especially good for people watching.
If you are looking for a beautiful view after your 1+ mile walk there is no better ending to experience. Pier reaches out into the ocean with lovely costal views as you look back towards land. Experienced during the day - but must be a lovely place for sunset!
