One needs walking shoes for the weary or the veterans as one could walk around the park and the cross, spending enormous amounts of time standing and reading all the memorials and the history and looking at the surroundings. It is lovely! But I discovered that, those on the memorial did not necessarily die in combat, but are immortalized via their time in the military. Really? Could we put our fathers here too? My cousin and my father are two brothers out of 7, all but one having been in WW II and the last too young as the war ended before he was sent overseas, but still a member of the armed forces at that time. And he is still alive. The others are all gone, one barely surviving a German concentration camp, my father a navy cross recipient. Could we put all 6 brothers at least on that wall? It seems so. And when the seventh goes the way of the others, then we put him up on the wall too. Such are the meandering thoughts from our visit there. And since then, all the wars we Americans have been part of call attention to many individuals who took part in them and deserve recognition. One complaint. People are slobs! They bring up food of all sorts, leave their trash, have ice cream dumped on the benches to make it impossible to sit, and make one feel their disrespect or just plain foolishness. So I ask that such picnic fare be kept in one place, not at the memorial.

If your visiting from out of town on the usual tourism circuit there is a lot more fun things to do. Great high point view of the area, but that's about it.

20+ years ago, when we first visited, this was a beautiful cross atop a hill, with panoramic views. Now, with the addition of the war memorial, it's even more meaningful. Don't miss this.

This stop is worth the drive. The view is an amazing 360 view and the memorial is well done. The plaques are very unique and are interesting to read and look at on your visit. I love the beautiful cross that reminds me of the ultimate sacrifice. There is no fee to drive/visit the memorial

This is usually our first stop with guests from out of town and it really is glorious. With all the moving memorials, Eisenhower, Churchill, Glenn Miller, it is an excellent history lesson, as well as being able to see La Jolla jewel and San Diego spread out before you.

Simply a great place to see the whole city and shores, check it out at night on a clear evening to also see the stars.

Just love visiting ant seeing the Beaty of San Diego for FREE. This veterans memorial is not only brautil but interesting as well. Allow enough time to read the plaques dedicated to the wonderful individuals that served our country too!

Our trolley trip brought us to this site. The views are amazing, but we thought too much time was spent at this site as most of us are tourists and do not have family to look up here.

This memorial is absolutely beautiful. You can see so many memorials to military veterans and get a 360 degree view of San Diego.

We went up here with a tour group and lots of good information was provided. It is clean and well kept. Be sure to pay your respects in addition to taking in the views that high up. It can be windy up there.

Beautiful views. Great Cross on top of the hill with memorial.Thank God we still have a way to enjoy a little honor for the sacred and Americans who served a traditionally Christian Nation.
