Very limited parking so you have to park somewhere else and ride the shuttle going inside. No problem as shuttle is frequent. Easy trails with not much slope.Unique experience to see these large magnificent trees. Never imagined trees can grow so big. You have to see it in person to have a perspective of how big these things are.
March is a quiet time in the grove. A perfect time for a first visit. Mariposa offers easy hiking for young children. The sequoias are amazing, awe inspiring.
Mariposa Grove was a good introduction to big trees, but ultimately doesn't quite match up some of the groves in King's Canyon or Sequoia NP. Busy too, though not too difficult to get a bit if space if you are prepared to walk.
Amazing beautiful enormous trees in a quiet forest. Do see them before the park closes for renovations and removal of the Parking Lot later in 2015. Entrance fee is now $25. Only negative, as others have said, is that the signs are confusing and the distances are longer than indicated. I am 60 and my wife and I had to give up going to the end of the trail and turn back. Yet what we saw and learned was amazing and worth the day trip from the other parts of Yosemite.
The sequoias are large no doubt, but I found it less impressive than the redwoods of Muir Woods. The trails are poorly marked and very confusing, they need to be updated ASAP. There was also fallen trees and debris on the trails.
Hiked all the way in and enjoyed the day. Gets quieter and less crowded when you get past the Giant Grizzly. We are seniors and with breaks, it was definitely doable. Words can't describe the feeling of walking among these giants.
You can't hardly take in all of this granger. The age and history is hard to comprehend. Some of the walks are a little tiring for older people, just pace yourself and take water, Go at least to the Giant Grizzly it is so worth it! You will see many amazing trees along the way.
Parts of the grove are closed and the parking lot is due to be removed. Beautiful spot to visit. Note - trail that says it is 2.1 miles actually measured 6 miles.
Amazing views, quiet and Peaceful, Stay on the trail because you see different types of trees and views.
Well worth the trip - lots of beautiful, huge trees and lots of history. Go all the way to the end where you'll see an old cabin and historical things.
Wow! Words do not describe the beauty and the majesty of these amazing forest of trees. It is well worth the money to take the sight seeing train tour thru the grove that lets you off several times to look around. Very interesting.
