The Rec center is not only a gym, it is so much more. They have pools for lessons and is home of the Dolphin swim team. They have open swim where children can ride the water slide. They have a rock wall, child center, a room for Zumba and other classes. They also serve as The site for adult volleyball leagues. In the summer children can go to Sports Camps and throughout the year children gather for volleyball, tennis and basketball recreation. Not only is this a place to burn calories, it's a place for the community to gather. This was long and coming in West Sacramento and I'll admit I was skeptical being on a high school campus, I thought it would be full of off-task teenagers, but This is not the case. Yes, there are now other gyms in town with more equipment on their floor, but for a family membership this is a great deal, well managed and a spot to gather and celebrate health!

Just love WS Rec Center. Got three months plus 1 month free for a member referral. Work out 5 days a week on the elliptical, treadmill, bikes. There is always a machine available, and I'm comfortable going alone. They have TV's, and if you plug your own earbuds in, you can choose which one to watch; or you can work-out to the music they play, which is inspirational to get through your work-out. Or you can bring your own ipod or phone (free wi-fi) and plug in to your own media. Joined the Kinesis class, which is cable, weight resistance machines. We work-out in circuit style, and after three times around, and a quick stretch, we are done, under the guidance, but not intrusive, personal trainer eye. They have a class for 55 and over. There are many classes to choose from. Bring a guest for the member day price; if you work in WS, you get the residential rate. The pool is wonderful during the summer, and lap swim all year long.

This relatively new facility includes a huge multipurpose room (at least 2 basketball courts in size), several activity rooms, a well-appointed weight and exercise room, and two huge outdoor pools (one recreational and one lap and competition)

Rec center is nice and the staff is very helpful. I have taken several lessons and classes there and been happy with them. The pool is greatand will be using it soon.
