We had a wonderful day visiting Hahn Winery, many thanks to our gracious hosts that worked so hard to ensure our comfort and educational experience. Most of the grapes had been harvested, but we drove through the vineyards on ATV's, tasted wine in the vineyards, enjoyed barrel samples, saw the bottling line in action and had a remarkable meal on the terrace. A terrific experience, wonderful people making world class wines. Highly recommended!
I took my dad to the winery a few years back for his birthday to pick a wine bottle. We were given samples of their wines. Staff was very friendly. My dad picked the Merlot. It was divine! The view from up there was soooo beautiful and so was the drive up there. We loved it! Great place for a small party or date.
The Staff here is very friendly. I took the ATV tour and had a great time. The tour guide was very informative and I learned a lot about the Santa Lucia Highlands. The wines are very good and the Pinot Noirs are the stars but the Chardonnay is tasty too. The winery offers many wines that are available only at the winery. The Rose is very good and my friends back here in Scottsdale loved it.
Winery is a bit hard to find on Foothill Road in Soledad, and it's way up a somewhat uneven dirt driveway. Once you get to the tasting room, it's worth it. The view over the Salinas Valley is very pretty - I'll never drive down that stretch of Highway 101 again without thinking of this. The wine is good, and the staff is helpful. We have visited this winery every year for several years, and continue to enjoy it.
We found this winery to be a bit difficult to find. It is about 5 miles off Highway 101 and signage is almost non-existent! We had a coupon for 2 free tastings and I found all of their wines to be wonderful. Bottle prices were around $20 up to $50 a bottle. The view from the patio is super. They had cheeses in a refrigerated case and a $15 cheese plate with 2 varieties of cheese, grapes, and crackers. The winery is a long way from town, so if you are hungry and don't have a picnic with you, the cheese is the only choice. Now for the art. The owners support a school in Kenya called Mugie Ranch. Gaby Hahn is quite an artist and has her paintings on display (and for sale) in the winery. She captivates the colors and spirits of the various African tribesmen in her beautiful pieces. All profits from the artwork go back to support the school in Kenya.
It's a great stop if you are around and you feel like wine tasting, they have tables outside on the terrace and also on the side, the view it's amazing remember you are on the hills, I have been here several times and I always enjoy their wine, this time I couldn't due to the people there, they were just busy, but it's always a nice drive.
Honorio poured us a great selection of wines from Pinot Gris to Cab. He was great to chat with and Indy, the resident dog, was friendly and helped create a welcoming laid back atmosphere. We brought our two dogs who loved the grassy area and enjoyed sitting with us as we had a picnic at the tables outside. The views of the valley were awesome. Make sure to buy a bottle or two and avoid the tasting fee, their prices are very reasonable.
We had this on our schedule to visit. Wasn't disappointed. The staff was very nice, the tour and lunch served was very good. The head chef does his meals with local ingredients and very fresh salads and sandwich we had was very good. The wine tasting was very good. I did order a case of wine to have sent to me. Hahn wines were very good.
My wife and I booked the ATV vineyard tour and can't say enough about it. The scenery was nothing short of breathtaking, and the breadth of our tour guide's knowledge was impressive. We learned about the making of wine from a number of different perspectives: scientific (e.g. soil conditions, topography, weather, etc.), production side (barrel making, aging process, sampling, etc.) and financial side. The vineyard is large and impressive but small enough in scale to be able to see the process from soup to nuts. The tasting room made for a great end of the tour, and I was impressed at how little pressure was placed on us to make a sale. When you've got good wines like they do, I guess you don't have to pressure customers.
This was one of the main stops on our anniversary trip to Carmel, California. While the winery is a little over an hour away from the Carmel, the views driving and upon arrival were amazingly unforgettable. When we arrived at the winery, we were promptly greeted by Larry who would be our tour guide. Larry joked that we should probably brace ourselves for the adventure we were about to experience. Still, his sharp turns and brisk take-offs did not disappoint and kept us on our toes. He was also very knowledgeable about the winery. We toured the winery and saw the beautiful grounds and valley below. It was all so breath taking. Then we returned back to the tasting room for some excellent wine. Hahn was already my favorite wine before this tour but I am a dedicated fan and about to be a wine club member from now on. I will say, you get quite dirty on the ATV tour. So, ladies might want to wear a scarf to protect the hair. Even with the scarf you will probably still get dirt in your hair because we were pretty covered from head to toe. Still, the Hahn ATV Tour was a definite highlight for our anniversary trip. Best Pinot Noir EVER!!!!
We've just completed our tour at the Hahn Estate and it was fantastic. We toured the beautiful 1,200 acre estate with guide Tim on the Honda ATV and it was awesome. The price was great, we were there for nearly 4 hours and had a fantastic day learning about the winery, the grounds, local wildlife, and the surrounding valley. Well worth the time and money and this visit far exceeded expectations!
I liked sipping my wine on the balcony overlooking the vineyard. Wine tasting was $15 for a flight. I chose a glass for $5
We went with friends from the area. They are wine club members and this is one of their very favorite wineries. We enjoyed our tasting and had our lunch on the deck overlooking the valley. Beautiful location. Excellent wine. We enjoyed it so much we shipped a case home.
Good wine, great view of the Salinas Valley, great music at the River Road Wine Trail - Valentine's Day Passport 2013 event.
A friend took us to this vineyard and we just fell in love with it. They have a $10 & $15 dollar tasting charge but if you buy a bottle of wine they waive the charge. The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly, they actually gave us a few extra tastings! They have a beautiful deck that over looks the valley and although it was closed when we were there (it was January) the wall facing the valley is all glass so you didn't miss the gorgeous view. They do have cheese and crackers but no food is available here. They do have some picnic areas so pack a lunch and buy a bottle of wine and hang out on the deck!
