Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to Cheesemans' Ecology Safaris in California. Not much can substitute for experience. This was a bucket list trip that exceeded our expectations. Doug and Gail Cheeseman shared their extensive academic knowledge and provided an expertly organized and executed safari that felt like you were on a trip with a group of friends. Actually, we learned that the majority of our safari-mates had been on one or more additional safaris to Africa and other locations with Cheesemans' over the years. And now we know why. Thank you for providing a flawless experience that so completely validated our trust!

I have been on 2 trips with the Cheesemans. 1st trip in 2008-2009 to Antarctica, 2nd trip was through Alaska with Hugh. I am going to Antarctica again at the end of this year. I have found the Cheesemans to be highly professional, excellent organisers and take you to places that will take your breath away. I have compared their prices to other companies and what you get with Cheesemans, far surpasses anyone else I have travelled with, and I have done a lot of travelling.

I have been on a number of "expeditionary" trips to the Arctic or the Antarctic in the past 10 years.In my experience the professionalism and experience offered by Cheeseman's is exceptional. They attract staff with both a love for the places to be visited, exceptional knowledge in their individual discipline with the professionalism to match. I couldn't speak more highly of their people.They offer probably the longest stays ashore of any operator, with the option of hourly returns to the ship for those that are ready to return.There are many who offer "similar" products to Cheeseman's, but based on my experience, few can come within range in matching the quality of the Cheeseman professionalism.Look no further - you have found the "gold standard".

When I wanted to look for a company to go to Antarctica, I asked 3 accomplished "birder" friends. Each of them, separately, said without hesitation : "Cheesemans' ". With their ringing endorsements, I looked briefly at Cheesemans' website, contacted them and signed up. When I started my trip and started talking to my fellow passengers I was amazed at the very high number of repeat customers. I spoke with others who had gone with other companies to the same 3 places and was told of the pathetic time spent on shore. I heard about one company that spent a day at sea to take their 200 passengers to the Falklands. Due to the number of passengers, (only 100 can go ashore at once), the passengers got 2 hours in Stanley and then sat around while the other half had their time on shore. Then they left the Falklands and spent another day at sea going to South Georgia Island. What a waste! Cheesemans' only takes 95-100 passengers, so everyone gets to go on shore at the same time. We spent 3 days on several islands in the Falklands, spending most of the day on shore before moving on to South Georgia where we were on shore multiple times at multiple locations over the course of 5 1/2 days. Then on to the Antarctic Peninsula where we had SEVEN thorough days exploring with daily, long landings. They have an expeditionary philosophy, so it the weather or conditions prevent visiting an area or prevent a landing, they will go elsewhere and when possible, go back to the places missed earlier due to adverse conditions! They have a great & friendly staff that get to know all of the passengers and are present (not hiding) on board the ship, helping to watch for wildlife (whales, dolphins, etc). I tried another company recently and realised my mistake. Next time I go on a voyage, it will be with Cheesemans'.
