winterhawk winery

This winery used to have weekend tastings with live music, dancing and wood fired pizza (made by burning old oak barrels). We went to Fairfield last weekend in hopes of finding a fun party in full swing and learned that the owner passed away recently and that the vineyards were sold to Gallo. Gallo, from what I understand, bought Winterhawk to acquire the vines and has no intention of continuing the brand or their fun and creative marketing. Bummer

I have been to this winery several times and LOVE IT! Napa Valley is beautiful and the wines can be exquisite, but a day of simple wine tasting can be a major expense, not to mention dealing with snooty attitudes at times. Winterhawk wines are good and reasonably priced. Their Saturday afternoon wine tasting, live music and wood-fired pizza events are so much fun and cheap at the current $10.00 price tag for several tastes a glass of wine and all the pizza you can eat. It is laid back, just hanging out enjoy good wine and company. The servers are inforamtive, the owner is usually there to greet people and the wine maker wanders around talking to folks. Informal and fun!

This place is a "Must Go To" for a day trip!Every Saturday they have Wine-By-The-Glass. This includes tasting their wines, a glass of your favorite, complimentary pizza from their wood-fired pizza oven with live music and dancing.Wine tasting, wine-by-the-glass and pizza from 1pm - 6pm. I have visited this winery several times, and have found it to be fun, affordable, and very low key. Good wines, too, especially the Syrah and Tempranillo. Great prices! I'll be back!
