Cruising Grand is the best single city event in Escondido. Throughout the summer Grand is hopping with good American Oldies and live radio broadcasts from the Grand. The cars are fun to look at and there are some nice cafes and restaurants along Grand that are most definitely worth trying out. Last time we ate at Fillipi's Pizza and it was delicious.
There are some great restaurants on Grand Ave. Intertwined is one and I would highly recommend it for lunch or dinner. Great food, great wine list and great service with a smile.
Summer Friday nights on Grand Avenue are a car lover's paradise. You can see and touch memories from your past or teach the grandkids to identify the year/models of the 50's and 60's muscle cars. Great fun.
Grand Ave has something for everyone; antiques, shopping, hair salons (Salon Sultry), restaurants; breakfast, lunch & dinner, wine bar, brewery, bakery, Tea Room, or just take a stroll.
It took us a while to figure this street out - it is a blast from the past for sure! The storefronts and the shops themselves in many cases seem right out of the 1950's and they've managed to carry off that sense of another age very well. Sometimes these attempts can seem too false but the mix of old and new, shops, restaurants and coffee shops is delightful.
This street, the heart of Escondido to my mind, contains a good balance/mix of eateries and shops and a relaxed ambience. Good farmers market.
Cruzin the Grand yes the thing to do on a Friday nite, however it is seasonal. All sorts of cars starts around 5pm till 8 ish. Some fun shops as well and lots of restaurants.A must to do if you are into cars
You know how we girls like to stroll and shop? If you like to peek into stores, have lunch, park with ease and not go far afield, this is nice street to do it in. Not upscale...you can wear your jeans..but enough art and antiques to fill a fun afternoon.
My husband had the first night of his class reunion on Grand. We had so much fun. You should have seen the guys on the bikes with lights. They were so awesome.
The highlight of Grand Ave is the seasonal "Cruisin Grand". It makes for a great early evening out, as well as, trying the many restaurants offerings. They also offer a Farmers market once a week. It turns out that we have quite a few good growers in the area that offer some of the best of their crops,
I visit Grand Avenue at least once a month for lunch at the little French restaurant and a buying visit to the antique store across the street. I have never been disappointed in the brie sandwich and last but not least, the desserts! Ooh la la! So Paris with little bistro tables on the front patio. The antique store with many, many booths is impossible for me to stroll all the way through. My favorite booth is one which has many French Country imports and great style. It includes dining sets, armoires and smaller items, too. Don't miss this shop while sauntering Grand Avenue.
Friday nights from around 5-8ish? Grand Avenue downtown Escondido. This has been a lot of fun to walk around and check out all the classic cars! The local shops are usually open extended hours, and the restaurants usually have some sort of specials going on.Its really a good time, the entertainment is fun, there are a LOT of classic cars out, beautiful machines. the people around are all friendly and in a good mood.Highly recommend checking this out!
Loved O'Reilly's Irish Pub (great music on Sunday night!) and A Delight of France (great pastries; took some home to my France-loving family, who concurred) in particular. Was very sorry to have to miss the tea room.
This street is loaded with incredible food and fun, Vincent's, Joe's Italian further down Grand, Fillipi's Pizza, the antique mall, Tuesday Farmer"s Market and Cruisin' Grand on Friday nights from April to October...seeing the old cars is a lot of fun....
Make sure and go on a Friday night for "Cruisin' Grand"-hundreds of classic cars, sidewalk cafes, always a new restaurant popping up. Open every Friday night during daylight savings time.
